Former Pilot updates

Post by PurplePrideTrumpet on Fri Apr 04, 2008 3:26 pm

Since the MiLB season started yesterday, including Portland's 8-4 win over Fresno, I thought I'd look around for some former Pilots:

Kory Casto: Columbus (AAA International League/Washington): 3-4, 1 RBI in his first game.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx: High Desert (High A Cal League/Seattle): 1.1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K
Joe Jones: Inland Empire (High A Cal League/LA Dodgers): 7-day DL
Chris Siegfried: Peoria (A Midwest League/Chi. Cubs): DNP
Travis Vetters: Great Lakes (A Midwest League/LA Dodgers): DNP yesterday in their first game.
Josh Roberts: Greensboro (A South Atlantic/Florida): 7-day DL
Given Kutz: Ogden (R Pioneer League/LA Dodgers): Season starts in June

It looks like Eric Hull and Travis Hanson are not on an active roster right now. This could change since clubs are always making moves, especially at AAA.

I'll be looking periodically through the summer for updates on our minor league Pilots.

Eric Hull was traded today to the Boston RedSox for IF Christian Larra.

Of all teams, why did he have to be traded to the RedSox? I hate the Red Sox, plus they don't play anywhere near here and their AAA team doesn't play in the PCL so I can't watch him play. That is disappointing news if you ask me, well, hopefully he gets to play, and plays well in the bigs.

Post by fatboy on Wed Apr 09, 2008 8:30 pm

Given Kutz was called up to Advanced A - Inland Empire 66'ers - and pitched on Tuesday night (4/9) with the following line.

3.0 IP 11 BF 2 Hits 0 Runs 0 ER 0 BB 2 K's 0 HR 0.00 ERA GO/FO 6/1

He pitched the 7th, 8th, and 9th and got the save to secure the 66'ers first win of the season.

MattyWizz... I feel your pain. Why oh why did it have to be the Red Sox? Oh well. But hopefully he can make it up to the bigs, since Boston's bullpen isn't really all that great and he might have an opportunity.

Great news about Kutz... I know there is a site somewhere that will search minor league stats based on college attended, but I can't remember. Best bet is to just use the MiLB site:

Hull: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Eric%20Hull&pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=457820

Kutz: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Given%20Kutz&pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=518908
GO PILOTS!!!

Chris Siegfried made his first start last week for Peoria, 1.80 ERA in 5 innings, gave up 3 hits and 1 run. Makes his 2nd start tonight.

So I was perusing the Beavers' site today and noticed that P Will Startup won milb.com's best name tourney. They also mentioned that former Beaver (and USF Don) Tagg Bozied lost to...Given Kutz! (One of my favorite Beavers against a Pilot--that would have been a tough call)

Hull made his first appearance for AAA Pawtucket today, going 1.2 perfect innings in a loss to Louisville. Kutz got knocked around yesterday--4 ER in 1.1 IP. His teammate Joe Jones got the win in relief today: 3 IP, 0 R, 4 K.
