That's what USF is doing for their midnight madness. Seems like maybe we could do the same thing... after a soccer game, have kids walk over to the Chiles Center for some free food (maybe even a beer garden for 21+ kids?), a dunk contest, a three-point shooting contest between the guys and girls, etc. etc.

I thought, "that looks like Clive on the cover." I picked it up and looked at the synopsis: "Oh my gosh, it IS Clive!" (He's the one on the left.)

Santa Clara on the bubble

Santa Clara has put itself in the position where it needs to win the rest of its games or lose a chance at an at large bid.

They lost today to San Diego 2:1. SCU is now 3-9-2, so any tie or loss puts them below .500 for the season. In order to be considered for an at large bid, you must have a record of .500 or better.

Their only other hope is to win the conference for the automatic bid, but with another tie or loss, that's not likely, either

Excited to see start of WCC phase of the season. I always think of this as phase II of III: non-conference: WCC: playoffs.

Hannibal is listed at 270, Hegarty at 320, Knutson at 245, Smeulders at 240 (really?!?), and Stohl at 165. Kramer, Robin, and Jared have all put on some weight, and Hegarty and Jasonn have really slimmed down. Very cool to see that they put the work in this summer. I saw Jared at a volleyball game a few weeks ago and he definitely looked more built than he did last year.

Garrett has said, and I forget his exact words, that he can no longer rely on the 3 amigas, and that he must start relying on the players who will consitute his playoff unit. I don't see how he can do that without sitting the amigas.

We wouldn't be 10-1, I don't believe, without them. If they can help us gain a #1 seed, they will have left an indelible mark on the season in helping us gain home field throughout the first four games of the playoffs.

Apparently they will be eligible this year for women's soccer as an at large team. Interesting since they generally do field a pretty solid team and I think are a few years removed from a D-II title... More interestingly is that since their on campus gym is extremely sub-standard for basketball they will be starting ...

We have almost simultaneously reached the major milestones of 500 Topics and 5,000 Posts. These numbers are truly amazing if you look at the topics and posts of all the other individual forums on this board. Women's Soccer dwarfs the others with men's basketball a distant 2nd in both categories.

Wow wow wow... the UP men ran extremely, extremely well at the Bill Dellinger Invitational in Eugene today, finishing second overall but with David Kinsella and Alfred Kipchumba finishing 1-2 and with Tommy Betterbed finishing 6th. Oregon's depth gave them the team win by seven points (and, in fairness, Galen Rupp and Kenny Klotz didn't run), but still... New Assistant Coach

Tucker Brack, an assistant coach and assistant athletic director at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Wash., has been hired as an assistant coach at the University of Portland.

A native of Woodburn, Brack was head coach at Chemeketa Community College in Salem from 2004-08 and compiled an 87-97 record. He was hired a few months ago at Lower Columbia.

Brack played at Western Oregon University in 2004 and 2005.

It's very well-written and is quite long... Fr. Bill is the campus ministry director and also worked at the health center as a counselor too, but now he's leaving for his second tour of duty as a Navy chaplain. He's a wonderful man and will be missed for sure, but I'm sure he'll be doing some great work with the Navy.

Definitely give it a read if you've got some time.

Fridays 4:30 game: Great male singer sings the National Anthem and the mic pops in and out again. I wonder what it will take to have this figured out? Do we need to start a donation basket at the games to get a better mic system? It's Sad to see great student singers all rehearsed for a great song and the mic fails. At this juncture in time, a bullhorn would be more reliable.
