Midnight Madness?

Post by Stonehouse on Tue Oct 14, 2008 8:39 am

I know we've never really done a Midnight Madness here, but here's an idea for something that sounds do-able:

That's what USF is doing for their midnight madness. Seems like maybe we could do the same thing... after a soccer game, have kids walk over to the Chiles Center for some free food (maybe even a beer garden for 21+ kids?), a dunk contest, a three-point shooting contest between the guys and girls, etc. etc.

PurplePride13... are you guys working on anything like that?

I'm confused; don't all the USF students already have new BMW's? Perhaps in PDX the prize could be a two year lease for a new road bike!

Well, i was contacted by the athletics department about getting something together for espnu and they said they'd let me know when they got more info. I kept bugging them and heard nothing. So nothing is planned right now. Its tough, this week is fall break so no one is here, and i wanted to get something together but there just wasn't the support. Think we can pull something together in 3 days?

Well, I don't think it necessarily has to be this weekend. But the first home game is 11/6, so... yeah. What about the Saturday after Halloween?

It could be cool... instead of doing it in Chiles, maybe do it in Howard. And do it so there is some food, maybe swing something with ASUP so there is a keg for older kids, and keep it short - a dunk contest, a three point shoot out, player intros, lots of giveaways... don't need much more than that. Maybe have the players judge a costume contest.

And then - this is the real icer - make it a Halloween Dance in Howard afterwards. Have KDUP DJ it to keep cost down. Could be pretty fun and get kids out that might not otherwise be interested in basketball.

Time frame is short, but you could start up a new tradition at UP. Go for it!!!
