200? recruit?

Post by Purplegeezer on Fri Feb 22, 2008 4:15 pm

Here's an interesting a story of Coquille basketball player Katlyn Shaw, who wants to come to UP to play Soccer. She's a 5'6" post player, so she's probably not scared of contact.

Coquille senior thrives despite 20-400 eyesight

She has enrolled at Lane CC and wants to work her way to UP to play.

OK, the chances, you'll have to admit, aren't very good of that happening. But you have to admire the goals the kid has set for herself, and you have to admire the guts she has to actually say it.

I'm putting her in the database just to see what happens....

Hooray for Katlyn Shaw! I've always said pursue your dreams and don't ever give up. People will try to discourage you along the way - you just have to ignore them somehow.

If you do come up short on your dream, revise it. (Make sure that it is, in fact, attainable.) Then continue to pursue it! Let the naysayers wallow in their own self-pity. Never give up!

Hooray again for Katlyn Shaw! I hope to see you in your Pilots uniform some day. Work hard - have fun! cheers cheers cheers

Thanks for the inspiring story, geezer.

As promised, an update on Kaitlyn

Not satisfied with getting acolades as a 5-6 post player in Basketball, she's now doing track and field.

She just won the high jump event at a track meet in Bandon.

She's still going at it.

Katlyn came in second at the conference meet in the 100, 200, and 400, qualifying her for the State meet in all three.

She's apparently only going to run the two longer events.

Katlyn Shaw runs in States

Post by Purplegeezer on Wed May 21, 2008 8:28 am

Katlyn is still busy. In the first day of the State 3A meet, her time was 10th best in the 200 meter (8 advance)

She improved to 9th in the 400 (again,8 advance)

She's got one more chance, though. Coquille came in 5th in the 4x400 relay, which puts them in the finals.
