2008 media

Post by Purplegeezer on Wed Aug 06, 2008 9:52 pm

The Oregonian's Boaz herzog has an article on the twins today

twins get last shot

Megan has been going all out, and Rachael still has a bit to go, according to Boaz.

Also, the Tribune has an article on Pilots Sinclair, Schmidt, and Cox, as well as quotes from US women after their loss.

Kelsey in the news

Post by Purplegeezer on Thu Aug 07, 2008 11:45 pm

This time its Victoria Nguyen who writes a piece on Kelsey Davis.
SportsTrib.

Seems Kelsey wants to be a striker. Why not? Sophie played it last year. Everyone should get a shot at it.

Kelsey Davis from SportsTrib article:

“One of the team goals this season is to take every game as seriously and as equally as every national championship kind of game.”

GREAT GOAL!!!

Having a great season record could mean the difference between playing the Quarters, (assuming we get that far), at home, (BIG advantage), and on the road, (can be done but you gotta have a super team.)

Here's an article from a few day's ago that we missed... Michelle Scifo is now the new coach at Lincoln High School, replacing Brandon McNeil - who took them to the state title last year - and who just joined the UP coaching staff. Ah... you've got to love the Pilot network all over town!

The Tribune is really stepping up its Pilot coverage since they made their switch to mainly web content. I wish their articles would show up in my Google alerts though... for some reason they never do.
GO PILOTS!!!

Hey, Stoney, keep us alerted about Pilot stuff from the Trib. I usually checked the paper edition, but I haven't developed the habit of checking their on-line content yet. I already have so many regular sites to hit (with PN high on the list Laughing ) that it is hard to add another in the time I allot.

Two new podcasts featuring Rachael Rapinoe and Kelsey Davis are up.

No new rss feed for these? My podcatcher currently has the old feed.

Two great interviews on those two new podcasts. Both Rachael and Kelsey are so well-spoken. Lots of neat Pilot thoughts.

A MUST listen for all Pilots Women's Soccer Fans!!!

GOOD MORNING! Game day! I am sure you are all filled with excitement and it has made your hearts pregnant with celestial fire, as Thomas Gray wrote.

The Pilots UP or World Cup? - Article from today's Oregonian about the 3 YNT players and their decision to play for the Pilots and the US.

Another podcast

Post by Purplegeezer on Sun Aug 24, 2008 4:02 pm

As if Garrett didn't have enough to do, there's a podcast that was done during halftime of the Oregon game with him last night.

Pretty amazing. He's got a lot to say about the team, especially the freshmen, early recruiting. the u20 players, and Sophie

Going back to a tidbit near the end of the Kelsey Davis podcast: is anyone else out there the least bit curious about hearing "Garrett Is a Ferret" as sung by Megan Rapinoe?

Well I have heard Megan is a first class guitar player. But getting her to go public might be quite a task. If it gets recorded I am sure it will go Pilot Purple Platinum. Smile

If you are interested in the current state of the Pilots, you've just got to listen to this podcast.

When Garrett speaks I listen. No one has a beter grip on the overall picture that is our Pilots Women's Soccer team than this man. And his message is so clear and easy for the casual fan to understand. If you don't listen to or read Garrett's interviews, you are simply not up to speed on the current state of the program.
