Good news! I spoke to 'Carl the Kettlecorn man' and he is considering offering a larger bag of Kettle Corn for this Fridays game! It is my dinner time ya know! Bring back the BBQ brisket sandwiches!

Since this thread is about the next game -- tomorrow night v Florida -- here's a very brief preview about one of next week's games. Score from today: James Madison 1, Penn State 0.
"You have to be ready to learn things from your players to be the best possible coach. There comes a point when things are going really well when you are learning as much from each other and it isn’t just one way. I’m not sure many coaches ... have a chance to get to that point." Clive Charles

Beat me to it. It was a good game on FoxSoccerChannel.

JMU is an interesting team. they beat a few good teams every year. This year they are most notable for their ties of Washington State and West Virginia.

Penn State may not be ranked by the time we see them. They face #1 Notre Dame next.

geez, do you math guys luv your statistics. Us liberal artists will have to stick to writing purty descriptions and choosing strong action verbs. Altogether we are using both sides of our brains. As the student cheer goes: "Left! Right! Left! Right!"

Right on, p.haze! I like to see the results of the math guy's genius, but to be honest, I can't understand a thing they are saying.

Like you, I am a lib. artsy guy. I guess you're right when you say all together we are using the whole brain.

What I can't understand is why I am writing this post?!? Very Happy

Geeks use action verbs just as powerful as anyone else. "Amortize" and "invest", and "compound" are pretty powerful, and no one can deny that the verb in the current financial climate, "Crash" is about as powerful as they get.

In terms of the RPI, "rate" is what it's all about.

In terms of the tournament, "select", "seed", and "travel" are verbs that have a lot of power.

hey, it's Friday!!! That means 12 hours from now the game vs. Florida will be just about over.

And I will be gassed from watching the LiveStats screen and listening to audio. (I yell and go nutso when we score. Scream obscenities when they score. Been pretty clean-mouthed so far this year - only 2 goals allowed in 7 games!!!)

(Won't/can't pay $8 for a crappy videocast. Although I understand why you folks from out of the area do.)

Hey geez, what do rate and seed mean? I thought rate was like heart rate, and seed was like planting stuff in the dirt???

Rate:To calculate the value of; appraise. See synonyms at estimate.
To value for purposes of taxation.
To specify the performance limits of (a machine, for example): This fuse is rated at 50 amperes.

Seed: Sports.
a. to arrange (the drawings for positions in a tournament) so that ranking players or teams will not meet in the early rounds of play.
b. to distribute (ranking players or teams) in this manner.

Pretty powerful stuff, no?

A liberal arts joke (and this was from my sociology professor, so don't shoot me):

The First Law of Sociology: Some do, but some don't.

The Second Law of Sociology: Maybe yes, but maybe not.

What can I say? As a biology major I was amused. Very Happy Laughing Very Happy

Did you hear about the economist who said, "I know it works in reality, but does it work in theory?"

Hey, someone has to run the numbers and I'm glad it's not me. All English majors: please step forward and take a bow.
