Kelsey Davis, Healthy Snacker

Post by purple haze on Thu May 15, 2008 6:54 am

For anyone who wants to snack like Pilot, yesterday's Oregonian ran a story in its How We Live section titled "What's in your snack drawer?" It contained this lengthy quote from Kelsey Davis, "redshirt junior who plays goalie for the University of Portland women's soccer team":

"Right now you'd find Yogurt Burst Cheerios, the strawberry kind. I think they're delicious, and cereal is a good source of carbohydrates. It's not a whole lot of calories and it's tasty. You'd find strawberries. I usually try to eat some sort of fruit, strawberries or bananas. I love mangoes. I like sweet fruit. Bananas have a high source of potassium and are good for preventing cramps. We lift a lot and run a lot, so that's important for our muscles. I eat a lot of yogurt. It's very good for you, especially right after a workout to eliminate soreness. You'd find a little bit of dark chocolate and Nature Valley granola bars. That's what I snack on."

I saw that. I have a lot of respect for her healthy eating habits since I lean more towards Channing Frye's tastes: "Peanut butter M&Ms [my favorite], Twizzlers [not my favorite], and peanut butter Twix [these are the best! Seriously!]"
Remember, the greatest intangible of all is love. Number two is grit.

This pisses me off. Why didn't you tell me about this BEFORE I bought my plane tickets to come visit you at the end of May? Obviously I would have liked to go to this... you know how much I love my RC and Moon Pies.
GO PILOTS!!!

RC Cola and a Moon Pie

Post by mattywizz on Thu May 15, 2008 5:22 pm

I didn't realize it was coming up so soon, I thought it was a little later in the year. Stoney, you are welcome to stay through that weekend, but I will be in Chicago watching the Barclay's Churchill Cup.

Geezer, to answer your question, I did not do the run (I try to limit myself to single digit distances), but the reason we went last year was b/c a friend was doing the run. The best part of that weekend last year was that we went down to Lynchburg afterwards and there just so happend to be a biker rally that same weekend.

I thought the best part of the festival was the synchronized wading.

But if you're just looking to eat them, there are Moon Pie eating contests and festivals all over the south.
Nearly every College has them. Here's Virginia Commonwealth's-

There's even one in Half Moon Bay CA.
