Lindsi Lisonbee a Parade all American

Post by Purplegeezer on Mon May 19, 2008 8:14 pm

Here's a story from The Salt Lake Tribune on Lindsi. It appears she was named to Parade's list as a Junior. That doesn't happen a lot, especially for defenders. This in spite of her not playing High school ball this year.

They got some of it wrong. They state she signed with UP. Of course, she can't actually sign her letter of intent until next fall -- pesky NCAA rules.

I believe that she can't sign until February of her senior year, like football players. As far as I can remember, February is in the winter - not fall.

(I think I'm right. Gotta hedge 'cause my memory is sometimes out of wack.)

Time to eat crow. I wrote a whole response about the early signing period and was gloating a bit, then I read the calendar again.

soccer isn't one of the sports where you can sign in the early period, so Fanatic is indeed right. pale
she can't sign until February. (the 6th this year)

At any rate, she couldn't have signed already...

Today's Parade lists the rest of the magazine's All-America teams (both girls and boys). Joining Lindsi (listed as a defender in the article) are fellow Pilot recurits Danielle Foxhoven (forward) and Charney Burk (midfielder). No Northewest girls were included.

Good job, purple haze. However, you missed one. Michelle Olivier is also listed as a defender.

I have a link to the article in the online Parade Magazine that unfortunately fails to show a listing of the players, which is shown in the hard copy edition, (which is an insert in the physical Sunday Oregonian at the back of the ads).

Parade All America High School Soccer (Article, with no apparent listing of the players)

If someone can find a Parade link to the list of players, they win today's Pilot Nation Private Detective Award! Very Happy

I scanned it. I assume the prize is good-- season tickets in the Harry Merlo suite, maybe?

That's Teresa Noyola's foot, BTW.

Cool, Purplegeezer, and thanks for correcting my oversight of Michelle O. We don't want to short-change anyone, especially the coaches who've pulled off such a great recruiting class. I was afraid I might make such an error since I was too lazy to actually do any research and check earlier postings -- too much like work on a Sunday morning. How lucky are we to get the chance to see these top players for years to come.
