Young Alumni Event Prior to Aug. 23 game against Oregon
These were a huge hit during the basketball season and I'm really glad they are continuing it on for soccer too! Pure genius whoever came up with that idea!
Hey Young Alumni,
Due to the fact that our Young Alumni pre-game events were so popular last year at the UP basketball games, we are kicking off the 2008 soccer season with one as well. Saturday, August 23, the women’s soccer team takes on Oregon at 7:00 pm. Be there to cheer them on to victory. But don’t miss out on the pre-game function in the Mago Hunt lobby starting at 5:45pm. Free appetizers and $2.00 beers will be available. Stick around after the game for post-game fireworks.
As you may know, the new Alumni & Friends Benefits Program recently debuted at Reunion 2008. Cardholders can redeem discounts at local businesses that have sustainable business models and/or promote community development (Click here to see the participating businesses – plus more to come soon!). One benefit offered through the program is a discount at the UP athletic box office. For this first event, we will automatically offer you $2.00 off of a general admission ticket. However to receive the discount in the future, you must bring your benefits card with you. Once you have reserved your ticket for this game, the Alumni Office will produce a card for you and distribute them to you at the pre-game party. The card is FREE of charge. All you have to do is keep it in your wallet and take advantage of discounts around town and on-campus! Don’t miss out on this great benefit.
Tickets will be $5.00 each. To order your tickets, please call me at 503-943-7245 or by email at Connell@Up.edu. We are anticipating a sold out game so please reserve your tickets in advance. If you have any questions, please email me or Tim Wigington at wigingto@up.edu. Please feel free to pass this along to any other UP alumni.

What about those of us who are old and not alumni, how do we get in on those $2 beers?

Haha yeah, for the basketball games there were a few "formerly" young alumni sipping some deliciousness... I mean forgiveness is always easier than permission, and when its $2 microbrews at stake...

Young is a state of mind, and I don't think you have to bring your diploma.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever.

Re: Young Alumni Event Prior to Aug. 23 game against Oregon
That settles it... I say we put together an "Old Alumni" tailgater in the parking lot and sell micros for $1.99. We'll show those whippersnappers!
Speaking of which, who else here has tailgated before a Pilots soccer match on campus?

Does the empty space after your post, Nut, mean that you are the only one in the parking lot tailgating?
Don't you feel a little odd being out there all by yourself?
Seriously, I am coming to the Aug 23 and Aug 30 games for certain. I'll show up early if you want to party! [You'll have to accommodate me, however. I'll need a rocking chair, plenty of winter blankets, (even if it's hot), a gallon of ice water, a quart of milk and a dill pickle.]
Can't wait for the 23rd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Young Alumni Event Prior to Aug. 23 game against Oregon
I am psyched for the 23rd and depressed for the 30th... I sadly wont be able to attend as one of my lifelong friends is getting married.
Asked whether he noticed Oden favoring his right knee, Frye dismissed it
entirely.
“He favors dunking on your head, that’s what he favors,” Frye said after
giving up his share to Oden in the workout.

Sorry to hear that Aleppiek. It's my anniversary, but my wife knows where I'm taking her...
