USD @ Merlo, Friday 8pm on ESPNU

Just a reminder that kick-off is set for 8:00pm, and the game will be televised live on ESPNU...

It's time to once again show the nation what Pilot Soccer and Friday Nights @ Merlo Field are like...

ugg that's right 8:00. hmmm, what to do with a 2 year old? Maybe he will let us watch the first half at Merlo.

Thank goodness for Grandparents, were getting one to watch our 15 month old. For the 2nd time this season my wife and I will actually be able to watch the whole game.

I will also be able to watch the whole game. It starts at 11:00 here, so I will be watching it Saturday morning with a cup of coffee in the comfort of my living room. I would much rather be at Merlo.

Best part about this one...unlike FSC, ESPNU is available in HD.

HD=High Drama. As in who will score the Pilots goals on Senior Night. As in M.E., S.S. and D.F.

Michelle E. seems to do well at home against San Diego, as I recall.

And that's how it finished since USD basically sat back and defended in the second half, and the Pilots are excellent at holding the ball for long periods. Reminded me a little of OSU's style.

Of course Kendra's goal was amazing but I thought she had a great night overall as well with a few nice runs. Kendall Johnson did a good job again of getting deep into USD territory and finding Pilots to pass to. It was nice to see Olivier back on defense for the whole game. The way she was winning balls all night it was as if she had never left.

The coolest play that was not a goal was in the first half, when a USD attacker went off on a run into the Pilot half and Sophie chased her down and tackled away the ball. I can't wait to see that one on the DVR.

One observation on WSOC: the attendance was very light . . . considering Senior night, the magnitude of the game, the quality opponent and so forth . .

You forgot to mention the Stanford win over Oregon.

If I lived less than 1900 miles away, I would have been at the game. Instead, I watched it on (Non-HD)ESPNU.
