Re: College Cup
Yep, breaks my heart for UCLA. Just kidding!
Did you all notice the foul count? UCLA 15, Stanford 5.
Both teams had chances, but Stanford looked the more dangerous to me. All three goals were great, although I think Kelsey would have stopped the Cheney goal.
Now for UNC v Notre Dame. I'm guessing that UNC is going to spank them.

Re: College Cup
I was able to catch some of the game at work -- a very tight match and some exciting chances by both sides. Can't say I am at all sorry to see Bruins fall again.

Re: College Cup
I think it's kind of funny UNC took like 25 blasts from the outside and crossed into the box from the 6 extended once - and that's what scored.
A lesson there?

Re: College Cup
UCLA does seem to be good at getting to the big show, but it's interesting to me that they can never quite get it done once they get there. Makes my day. LOL
Stanford/UNC should be a tremendous final.

Closeness of the games tells me that UP was in with a shout again this year. I'm rooting for the Cardinal too.

Actually, I think I would even root for UCLA against UNC. Well, maybe not. Probably I just wouldn't watch.

Re: College Cup
UCLA v UNC would be a tough call. Academic because UCLA isn't good enough.
Maybe abandoned as a stalemate after 11-11 on PKs.
(I know they would keep going until someone missed ...)

Re: College Cup
How's this - game abandoned as a stalemate after 11-11 on PK's because of lightening strikes that just missed Cheney.

Re: College Cup
I've been trolling this forum for awhile and found it necessary to finally join. I'm here in College Station for the Final 4 with my dad, as we bought tickets praying and hoping that we would see the Pilots join us.
Either way just wanted to say thank you for the great forum and threads!
After watching the semi-final matches, Stanford looks like a solid team with the ability to finish from 30 yards as evident from their goals, but UNC has some serious speed and plays a lot more aggressively than Stanford.

Re: College Cup
I feel a little bit bad about rooting for a team to lose, as opposed to rooting for one to win, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't watching the first game just to watch UCLA lose. I was quite certain that Stanford would win, but mostly I wanted UCLA to lose.

It's over.
Stanford's Ohara gets her second yellow and the Cardinal are down 1-0.

Re: College Cup
You'd think a Stanford student would be smarter than to kick someone from behind when she's already on a yellow...
What's with UNC's numbers? I've seen 00 (on a field player), 76, 91, and 98. Are they like the Yankees? Have they retired a bunch?

Re: College Cup
So, I'm kind of confused here. I pretty much always root for the team that beat "my team" to win later on in a tournament. Don't you want to say that you lost to the best team and not the third or fourth best team? It seems that a lot of our regulars REALLY don't like UCLA, maybe I am a little too far removed from the team, but I don't have a problem with them and would rather lose to the National Champion than a Semi-Finalist.
