It's Official!
So anyone out their with sufficient knowledge to suggest which of the seven recruits is likely to have the most playing time, etc. and which, if any, might start? I would think our point guard position is the least settled at this point and that Douglas would be the most likely to be on the court most, if not starting?

Re: It's Official!!! Pilots Sign Three Guards
I expect that Nicholas and Riley will be impact players right away, and we will need Douglas to step up, too, at PG.
It will be interesting to see who starts at PG... Will Waterford step up? Will Douglas be our starter? Time will tell, but Douglas seems solid.
Man, I cant wait to see these guys play and develop under Rev!
So, to project starters off the top of my head:
Knutson
Sikma
Mitrovic/Riley (?)
Stohl
Waterford/Douglas (or Rodgers?)

Nut, Re: Potential starters;
If you look at the last three or four games of the season, the fans favorite player, Jasonn Hannibal was player even or at times better than Knutson.
He developed into a much better at the free throw line than Kramer and outscored him the lst two games. If he should improve just a littl during summer workouts I feel he would start at the post. Also don't discount young Nicholas on the front line someplace.

Re: It's Official!!! Pilots Sign Three Guards
I agree that Jasonn was looking much improved towards the end of the year; lets hope that continues into next season! I just dont see Jasonn being solid enough on defense to get the starting position (yet, anyway....) Being able to get significantly increased contributions/solid minutes out of Jasonn would be huge next year (pun intended).
Nicholas will be right there in the mix, but I see him playing more of the 4 than the 5. So, Nicholas coming in from Sikma at the 4, and Jasonn/Kramer at the 5...?
I really hope that Sikma will become the emotional leader of the team next year... I am anxious to see him take over as a starter and just take control down low!

Jasonn is a matchup defender. Against smaller, quicker centers he's really vulnerable. But against a big guy like Samhan, he can be lights out, just filling space and being a big body. Seriously, watching Samhan in the NCAA's made me appreciate what a great job Jasonn did on him in the game at the Chiles Center. That was the best individual defensive performance I saw this year.

Re: It's Official!!! Pilots Sign Three Guards
It was nice to get all three signed. I'm excited to see how everyone fits in. Rev seems to be pretty good at making everyone have a role on the team, from the starters to the 12th man.
One aspect I would like to see is someone who can drive and create to be able to kick it back out to Stohl or Nem. I just hope the good shooting percentage rubs off on the new guys.
Welcome New Pilot BB Players!!!

Here's a story on Korey Thieleke that might get your interest.
West High guard Thieleke signs with U of Portland
Hope so.
West High guard Thieleke signs with U of Portland
"Basketball athleticism is something that we targeted as a need in this recruiting class, and Korey definitely fills that need," Reveno said in a release.
So, Thieleke jumps out of the gym, and Reveno's eyes pop out of his head. Could be a match made in hoops heaven.
Hope so.

The New Starting Lineup
If Mitrovic is the starter at 3, and he may well be, I wonder if his backup would be Riley, not Korey Thieleke. Given Thieleke's level of recruiting (13 schools including Santa Clara) and the reference to nice jump shot, I would not be surprised to see him transitioning into a starting role, or at least playing meaningful minutes.
Let's hope the frosh push the upperclassmen. Let's also hope that a winning season is possible next year.
Go Pilots!
