WCC Awards--Pilots Sweep!
The WCC announed the 2007 WCC All-Conference Teams today:
Player of the Year: Angie Woznuk
Defensive Player of the Year: Stephanie Lopez
Freshman of the Year: Keelin Winters
Coach of the Year: Garrett Smith
First Team All-WCC Pilots: Enyeart, Lopez, Schmidt, Woznuk
Second Team Pilots: Budge, Michaelson, Winters
All-Freshman Team Pilots: Reed, Schmidt, Tsao, Winters
Honorable Mention: Chandhoke, Cronkite, Davis
Full release: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/west/sports/w-soccer/auto_pdf/2007all-wccrelease.pdf
I know you have to give some awards to other teams players, but... Davis, Chandhoke & Cronkite as Honorable Mention only?
Congrats Pilots!

Re: WCC Awards--Pilots Sweep!
PilotNut,
Davis had to make maybe 20 saves in conference (I'll look it up)
She may as well have sat next to Garrett for some games.
How much more could you give her?
The others got robbed
(completely objective though on my part- with absolutely no bias against other conference players)'

Re: WCC Awards--Pilots Sweep!
I guess that makes sense when you think of WCC play only. Kinda stinks, but you are right.
She gets "punished" because of the incredible defense in front of her...

Re: WCC Awards--Pilots Sweep!
It's always tough for a goalie with a terrific defense to get post-season awards like this, since they are not tested as often.
And also, Kelsey didn't start all the WCC games either... I think Hailee had at least two starrs in conference play. So that helps explain it too.
And just based on the one game I saw Slovek of LMU play, I think the right person won the award. She saved at least three sure-fire goals against the Pilots last Saturday and kept LMU in that game. With a worse keeper, that game could have easily been 6- or 7-0.
Still... I'll take Kelsey and Hailee any day of the week and twice on Sunday!

Re: WCC Awards--Pilots Sweep!
This was really, really great news. I'm so glad Angie got the recognition that she's due. I know we're all going to miss the way she plays the "beautiful game"! Plus, in addition to all the other awesome recognition to the players, Keelin's winning the Freshman of the Year is fantastic.
Let's all be beaming good thoughts towards (or at) Boulder on Friday. According to my niece who lives there, it was 70 degrees and sunny until yesterday, but she woke up to two inches of snow this morning. Still, the weather forecast is for good weather with temperatures in the 60s. She says to be prepared for anything. Whatever the weather, BRING IT ON!

wrong again..
In an Earlier post on this thread, I stated that Kelsey had to make perhaps 20 saves in conference this season.
I was wrong, and for that I apologize to everyone.
She had to make 8 saves this season in 4 conference games and allowed no goals.
Hailee had to work to make 5 saves in her three games in conference and had one slip past her.
For the entire season, Kelsey had to make 31 saves, Hailee stopped 11

i was so thrilled to see keelin win frosh of the year, but more impressively was seeing angie win player of the year. considering the year enyeart had, it just goes to show what the wcc coaches think of angie. lets just hope that the new womens national team coach recognizes what she will be able to bring to the national team. cross your fingers every one.
