Jerry Tarkanian

Apparently Jerry Tarkanian is headed to the Basketball Hall of Fame…..to be announced tomorrow.
I couldn't decide if liked or disliked Jerry when he was coaching as I always felt he was cheating in some way, shape, or form......but I do believe the guy also did a lot of positive things for college basketball by making the whole recruiting process and the care and feeding of the players more transparent.....and he genuinely cared for the kids.
He was not perfect during his coaching years at Long Beach State, UNLV and Fresno St..... the NCAA vacated 49 of his games at Fresno St. and six while at Long Beach State, but he led UNLV to the national title in 1990 and also took the Runnin' Rebels to the Final Four in 1977, 1987 and 1991.
He finished his career with a 729-201 record....probably good enough for the HOF, regardless of the tarnish. I would have voted for him.

Just announced….Jerry Tarkanian, 82, finally elected to the Basketball HOF…do you suppose his plaque will include the towel??
