Pepperdine @ Portland, Feb 3
Pilots had it well under control. Then they didn't. Then they won anyway
Had to have been Bol's best game as a Pilot and not just because of that huuuuuuuge late three.
Sure looks like the return game at Pepperdine two weeks from now will decide 7th. Pepperdine gets Pacific one more time which should be another W for them.

I guess if you're going to give up a 10-0 run at the end of the game, it helps to start with a 13 point lead.

In the past, many on this board have commented on Coach Romar's ability to recruit potential NBA players to Malibu but also on his inability to coach them into consistent winners...and last night was no exception.Dean Murdoch wrote:Pilots had it well under control. The Waves were drowning the River Pilots over the last six minutes with their full court press and trapping while shooting off the dribble on offense instead of the more deliberate style his superior athletes were playing earlier. Why didn't he employ that tactic more often

Despite all the 3s raining down on the Waves last night, 5 from Juanse, 4 from Vuk, 3 from Chris, and 2 from T-Rob, in many ways the night belonged to Bol and Coleman.Dean Murdoch wrote:Had to have been Bol's best game as a Pilot and not just because of that huuuuuuuge late three.
Bol's scoring and work inside that resulted in a number of PU misdirected shots to go along with his 7 boards, and Coleman's clamp down defense on PU's Mallette after he had scored 19 quick points, were crucial in the win.
And who will forget Coleman's 3 pointer off the dribble that ignited the fans and the UP bench, and then Bol's late trey that ultimately kept PU from overcoming UP's 18-point lead.
Winning teams know how to finish games!! The Pilots still have a little work to do.
