Brad Tinsley Verbals to Pepperdine
This marks the second Portland-area guard to commit to Pepperdine (Paul McCoy from Grant has already verballed).
It's a great get for Pepperdine, but I can't help but be suspicious... they just recently Pepperdine hired Mark Campbell, a former player at Hawaii and coach at Clackamas Community college. Turns out Campbell is Tinsley's mentor/private coach/Bible study partner/etc. There was a big article in the Oregonian about their relationship... Campbell is the son-in-law of Brad Smith (the famous Oregon City girls basketball coach), hence the Oregon City connection with Tinsley.
Again, it's not the first time that a school has hired the coach/friend of a recruit, but jeesh... Walberg seems to be going a bit overboard. First it was Tucker from San Diego (bringing in BOTH of his sons, as well as two of his other players - Shelley and Thomas - both of whom happened to be big-time recruits), now this... just seems a bit shady to me.
But either way... boy would it be nice to get some of these local recruits. Oregon has been pumping out some really great D1 prospects lately... we've got to get on their radar screens somehow!
