And a reminder to all you locals too - kick off time for the game is 1:30pm - not 2:00pm as noted in some earlier schedules. The adjustment was made for - what else - television. And, don't forget to set your clocks back 1hr tonight for daylight savings time. Don't want anybody showing up too early for the big game!!

GO PILOTS!!!

Ahhh yes- We will also be blessed with the ever so popular "TV time out" I just love it when a team is having some great game flow and the game is called for a TV time out. I remember the old NASL days on TV when they would break for commercials; return to the game with a; "Wow, what a goal that just occurred while we where away, we'll see if we can get that on replay" Maybe soccer needs a two minute warning so more commercials can be fit in? Baseball is even better when a bunch of guys huddle around the pitchers mound and make the game wait. Bring your rain gear.

I think... not 100% sure... but I think that ESPNU doesn't do the TV timeouts. I know for sure Fox Soccer Channel doesn't. The Comcast SportsNet games do though. Ah! Wish I could remember...

I should also mention... if for whatever reason you don't get ESPNU, you should tune in to the free audio broadcast on PortlandPilots.com. You never know who might show up and call the play by play. Wink

Well, at least it's not in the spring when they may come an hour too late!

Will we? The men were on FSC and there were no time outs. But tWWL* might do it differently. And remember the 94 World Cup when the networks actually let us see the matches without commercials?Shocked
What a novel way to broadcast soccer!

My favorite is what I call the "NFL double play:" Extra point after a TD, TV time out, kickoff, TV timeout.Suspect Maybe 10 seconds of live action and 3 or 4 of commercials. They gotta make money somehow, right?

BTW, I have long argued there is just as much "standing around" between plays on the gridiron as there is on a baseball diamond between pitches.

Atten all Direct TV suscribers like me. Call them up and sign up for ESPU they have a special with $10 off the package which is like 2 or 3 dollars a month for the first three month. You can cancel after 30 days so its worth it to get the game.
