Yeah I'm obviously a Pilot bandwagon jumper ever since I went there to college, I'm sure that is a terrible reason to start rooting for a team... And same for the Sounders, at least I wasn't going to their games when they played in the Tacoma Dome watching the Dunn brothers and Marcus Hanneman, I mean 1994 that's just absurd... When did the Timbers get re-formed, 2001?? Huh... weird....
He's definitely not the only Pilot fan or player who ever came from the North... Let's see there's Kasey Keller, Michelle French, and a whole list of others... further North from Canada there's Sinclair and Sophie too... So, yes, there are true Pilots supporters up North. We swet blood and tears for the teams just like you do. Peace...
good to know youre not a poser when it comes to UP issues rochin, just expect to take some flack when you bring up and back s**ttle on a portland message board......
james, we obviously havent met.....i hope im not seriously going to be lectured on the history of the program, especially when 3 or the 4 names were females......lets at least keep our arguments linear in a mens soccer thread......for example, lets just say im from the keir cochran mold.....hope that helps.......
Call me crazy, but, the sex of the players is really irrelevant... I can appreciate your passion for the Seattle-PDX rivalry though...

Freddy to Jaqua?? I implore you to find a more beautiful mid-forward combination... Oh and they might play some nifty football too...

Yes, it will be sweet. Let's hope Portland gets a team to get this rivalry started. Here's to watching Keller throw soft outlet lobs to Jaqua... Here's a complete list of the players taken:

Wait... weren't you guys earlier mocking Seattle for not being supportive of it's team? And now you're making fun of them for paying money to see the unveiling of the new kits? Isn't that a sign that people are excited about the team and ready to support it?
Look, I get not liking Seattle (believe me, I'm no fan of the Mariners, Seahawks, Sonics - RIP, or Huskies), but come on... the Sounders are MLS now. Their expansion franchise has been a model so far - tons of season tickets sold, active owners, tons of fan interest, etc. If and when Portland ever gets an MLS team, I hope it can be as successful in the run up to the first game as Seattle's has been.

Re: Rumors about Nate Jaqua coming to Sounders FC...
Oh, I remember when that video came out. What will they look like? Red with white trim...or red with red trim?
Pretty amazing that any football club would have a fashion show to debut new kits since clubs don't generally change the colors or design of their home shirts. Everyone there knew Bayern would be wearing red and white, just like every Inter kit will have blue and black stripes or every Celtic kit will be green and white hoops.
And I know Seattle has responded well to MLS. I just think it's funny that people just have to be the first to see what the kits would look like. As for the jackets, tees, &c., it's just Adidas gear in Seattle colors with the logo on it. Nothing earth-shattering, just the stuff that all the MLS clubs wear. There are places to see the stuff on the Internet, you know.

Still jealous, it seems. As for the colors, they're very similar to the colors of the other tenant of Quest Field, the Seahawks. I'm okay with that. I hope that at least some residents of Oregon react with the same fashion to the putrid Nike football uniforms of the Ducks.

You do make a good point. I don't think the Seahawk uniforms are that great, either. And I for one think the Duck uniforms look really cool, especially the new black ones they wore against Arizona.

Re: Rumors about Nate Jaqua coming to Sounders FC...
The rave green is kinda growing on me... Haha kind of like UO's inexplicable fascination with "lightning yellow", now we both have equally hideous colors to rally behind... That said the similarities to the seahawks colors aren't really an accident, the Seattle fans are HUGE proponents of the colors for the SeaChickens, so why not have some continuity?? They play in the same stadium, for the same owner... I look at it as kind of a continuity you might see for sports clubs like PSG, Real Madrid, or Barcelona... All of whom share similar uniforms/colors as the soccer team the club was founded upon...
Haha as for the Schmidt deal, yeah I thought that seemed a little shady to me to be perfectly honest...
P.S. I like the all white oregon look personally... I guess I like a clean design to my uniforms... I'm not a big fan of the diamond cut look on the shoulders, it just looks a little cluttery to me... And as for the blue Seahawk helmets/uniforms... they annoy me almost as much as THIS:
As a lifelong supporter of the RED devils it pains me whenever they decide to bring out this color for an alternate kit...
(A bit off topic, but I needed to vent. Sorry.)

Re: Rumors about Nate Jaqua coming to Sounders FC...
I'll tell you what, I have this strange affection for the Oregon yellow, too. I know I'm not supposed to like it, but I do.
The blue kits make United look like Chelsea, but they're a whole lot better than the away kit the Gunners are wearing this season. I know they want it to look like the kit they wore the day they won the league at Liverpool 20 years ago, but yellow and blue with red trim? Sounds like they closed their eyes and picked three crayons out of a box.
The home shirts I can live with, although the sleeves are supposed to be white, not just a white stripe.
So there's my rant about my favorite club's kits.

Haha I've been thinking the same thing about the gunners home strip... It's a good looking uniform, but seriously, the sleeves are the wrong color.
It annoys me when Nike designs uniforms that defy tradition, kinda like what they did with the UW football unis and made it look like a more like a generic version of the Miami ones...

How else are they going to get people to fork over $80 for a new jersey every year? Remember, before Nike entered the biz, how soccer kits (and cleats for that matter) designs didn't change every year--not even minor tweaks? I mean, I know Nike is dying to redesign the iconic jerseys of Brazil or Celtic (ie: make an alternate florescent jersey like they did with Barca)...I swear the US jersey from the 1994 World Cup was kiss off to US Soccer from adidas saying "suck it. you reap what you sow. have a nice life with nike, suckers."

Ha ha... oh man. Well... we can't blame crazy uniforms and weird fashion shows for unveiling new designs all on Nike. Check out this cracked out German Bundesliga show from the 70s:
I must say, that blue and white jersey with the v-neck on the right... that's nice!
Oh, and give it 30 seconds... it gets unbelievably bizarre.
