There was a bit of Gossip about a recruit that didn't fit in to what we knew about UP recruits last year and next, but it was about a player who would sneak in under the radar because of injury issues from the Puget sound area. year and details were uncertain, but we think it turned out to be Emma Nelson.

I think Penn State will burst back on the scene next year with the recruits they have coming in.

Penn State owes us a return game at home. So we will get to see them early in the year I expect.

Boaz Herzog weighs in on next season in his latest installment in The Trib.

Including a comparison I like between 2004-2005 and 2008-2009.

Enjoy!

I guess it's the Portland Tribune, but it's interesting that he highlights the three local recruits and ignores the one "big fish" in the entering class...

Geez, was this really in the Trib? I just read the same article in the Oregonian... Very Happy

The last paragraph also mentions a season opener against Cal here.

Geez - Herzog's article is in the Oregonian/OregonLive.com, not the Tribune.

And SoreKnees - I'm not sure why he chose to highlight only the three incoming recruits from the Portland area. He not only left off the "big fish", Cloee Colohan from Utah, but he also left off Molly Klier, from California.

Garrett has said that he considers his 2009 incoming class players as "great". He says the lesser known players have every bit the credentials of a Keelin Winters or a Jessica Tsao. That makes me feel like,
wow!!!

And Garrett does mention the 2009 opener in the article at Merlo, against California, on Friday, August 28th. Very Happy

Okay, so we know the first game of next year's schedule will be against Cal. We will get to see their touted U-20 forward, Alex Morgan, who's been having a great tournament in Chile. I wonder if Stanford will come up from the Bay Area with Cal to play in the Sunday game on that opening weekend?
