Ugh, more USD trouble...?

It looks like guard Trumaine Johnson, who has been suspended all season so far, was apparently kicked off the team today.... wow.
If true, USD is down to 8 scholarship players.

Wow.... Let's hope that situation turns better quickly, I remember a kid I went to HS with was QB for their football team, but was asked to play basketball after that mass exodus of players a few years back...

Re: Ugh, more USD trouble...?
Hmmm... something is seriously wrong down there. There were rumors of fights between basketball players and football players... then there were all the suspensions earlier in the year. Now Grier kicks a player off the team.
Being away from the situation, it's hard to know whether it is deserved or not. But one thing is certain... San Diego, which looked so promising before the season, is not looking very good right now. With player turmoil, Brandon Johnson out, and Grier'sinability to sign any recruits... yikes to correct myself, USD did sign three kids to LOIs this fall:

Somehow I missed that release. I do know that their highest rated prospects had committed but then left when their former assistant (Walter Roese) went from USD to Nebraska.

Re: Ugh, more USD trouble...?
What a tough situation for them. I really had hopes for them representing the conference in the postseason again. Their posters say they are down to TWO guards. Can that be right? If it is...

Re: Ugh, more USD trouble...?
If there is anything certain about this year headed toward WCC play, it's the uncertainty of the middle ranks of the conference (and lower ranks if you consider the mysterious shroud that is the Bayno sitch in LMU, not to mention the debacle that has been USF and Pepperdine over the last few years)... Not a bad year for the Pilots to make a statement if you asked me...

Re: Ugh, more USD trouble...?
The door is opening up a little bit... Although, I really think with how Gonzaga is playing right now, unfortunately everyone is playing for second place. Heyvelt has just been ridiculous this year. We have to be rolling on all cylinders and healthy when the season starts. If making a statement means finishing 3rd in the WCC, I think we're up for the task though as long as we're completely healthy... At best though, I do think we're talented enough to split a series against almost anyone, even Gonzaga. Against them, we honestly have to play a perfect game.

Honestly, 3rd would be a fine statement... And considering how bad it has been in recent years would be quite refreshing...

I stopped hoping after 2004-05. Hope only opens you up to pain and suffering.

Fare weather?
Sorry... that was stupid. But it's a Friday and I used to be an editor... I can't help myself.

Heh. I'm always correcting things in my head, too. What really drives me nuts for some reason is the use of apostrophe's in plural noun's.

We can officially stop feeling sorry for USD for the rest of the year. That game was never contested.
Perhaps Bill Grier knows what he wants in a team.

Well, I guess USD is not in as much trouble as we thought. The Ducks were absolutely abysmal from the field. Really, if Tajuan Porter isn't getting it done, they are in trouble. The Pilots have a very good chance against the Ducks. Yes, I said it.
Glad the Ducks gave the nice people in Seattle something to be happy about tonight.

Come on guys. If I'd really stopped hoping after 2004-05, would I still be here now? Seriously, I've sat through more than enough heartbreaking moments - and still come back - to not be called a fair weather fan.

I like our chances as long as we have Ethan back by then. A victory over Oregon with a few other timely wins along the way might be enough to get us into the voting for the mid-major Top 25... Also, mmmmmm...good will match up pretty well with T. Porter in my opinion...
