Air Force vs Portland at Cal
Hi all,
Wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Years from a Falcon Fan. Looking forward to the game tomorrow night at Cal. Should be interesting.
Don't know much about your team but have been following the last few weeks. Saw some good wins and some losses you'd rather take back. What can we expect from your team tomorrow? Any info on what kind of offense ou run, defense, etc would be interesting from a fan point of view.
AF is a young team that has been learning from an easier than desired schedule, but hopefully learning from it. Only one common foe that I see is UNC who we played in Greeley, CO. From AF you see a good motion offense but not a true Princeton, and a matchup zone on the opposite end. We are not very tall with our starters, but have a few young guys that are breaking in. An overview of the team done at the beginning of the season can be found at: http://forums.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=238&f=1550&t=3304887
Stop by our forum tomorrow...I'll have all the gameday news up from the different newspapers and sports site reference the game.

Here's to a good game with no injuries.

Re: Air Force vs Portland at Cal
Young team, no seniors. Good depth, go several deep on bench. Good size on front line. Scoring is coming from guards. Offense is rarely fast break, lots of motion, looking to work inside or free up an open three-pointer. Turnover prone recently. Strong defense, no easy shots. Varies, using both man and zone. Decent but not great athleticism. Should be a good match-up.
Hope our game doesn't get lost in the bowl mania and pro football season ending games this weekend.

UGLY!
Pilots make a three point play the old fashioned way in the last minute to win by one, 43-42. Only heard a couple minutes at the end. Sounded like an ugly game! Both teams shot less than 30%. Pilots only 65% on FT's; Luke missed two with under 30 seconds to go. Robin shot 1 for 8. Jared struggled from 3-point range. All in all, good to get this behind them. I don't expect Cal to allow this type of play to go unpunished.

Ugly is fine with me as long as it's a win.

Nice comments. I would just add that our most consistent player has been Raivio, and our record is far better with Ethan in the lineup.

I have been out of the loop for a while, but i'm glad to see Ethan back... he is critical to the team. Hopefully Kramer will be back tomorrow.

Re: Air Force vs Portland at Cal
Looking at the box score, I am struck by a couple things. Jared going 1 of 11 on three tries. Must have been good shots that wouldn't fall, if they kept going back to him. (Sure hurts the percentages ) And it looks that without Kramer the bench got really short. Basically the 5 starters and Ethan, who is probably still working into shape. Could be a problem with a back-to-back game Sunday and then a Tuesday game in Bakersfield.

Robin 1/8, Nik 2/12 and Jared 2/12....long night offensively. I don't think that will happen too often.

Bad Shooting Percentage. But, It's a win, and they can't shoot any poorer,I think? A few times it reminded me of last year when Nic was having to force shot's and that has not happened all year because of us getting so much better. That's one aspect I have alway's enjoyed about this year if someones shooting poorly there's always a couple other player's to pick up the slack.:JUST THINK THE PILOT'S WON A CLOSE GAME THAT THEY SHOT DISSMAL AT, YEAH HA!
Kramer is doubtful for today. Hopefully he can play as his arch-rival in HS Harper Kamp plays about 20 minutes a game for California. He like Reveno have had this one circled on their calender all year. Even though Rev can deny it but how much do you think he wants to beat his coach and mentor? In a few hours I should know if Kramer is going to play. He didn't even dress out for Air Force, I just hope it's for these two games at most.
Today is a tough game,as this is California not Linfield or Howard. It's on the their home court too.
