Wow, that is a pretty incredible rate for a stay in Vegas! I might have to see what I can come up with.

Oh, you can get even cheaper (or you could when I booked a bit ago). I booked off of expedia, and there were plenty of hotels that were in the high thirties for a night's stay, but they were a bit farther from the Orleans. Of course, given that the games aren't until the evening, you have plenty of time to work your way out to the Orleans.

I've got legs, and yes, I do know how to use them. Or, for the money saved, you could probably get a cab.
I hope that Chiles is packed tonight, though. If things go right, this should be a fun game to watch! We might even get to see the Chiles Center debut of Big John...

Re: Pepperdine, Thursday 7pm, Chiles Center
Seriously, the road trip to Toso Pavilion (SCU) my senior year was probably my best social memory from college (we lost in the championship game though)...
We packed 8 people in some divey hotel, mooched off the alumni functions for food & beverages, and got about 6 hours sleep all weekend. The room was really just a place to shower and store the luggage.
I just looked on Expedia and found the Wild Wild West Gambling Hall & Hotel... its in between the Orleans and the Strip. Rooms are $24.99 a night, so including taxes, $99.97 for Sat - Mon. nights. (hotel web site link) Split that 8 ways... $12.50 each for 3 nights of lodging ($4.17 per night)!! It's not fancy, but really how much time do you spend awake/conscious in the room? It looks like there are a few other hotels (also nicer than the WWW) near the Orleans, as well...
How can any student not go? I am sure at least 10 or 15 of us would have gone from my circle... oh wait, we did...! even when the tourney was in Santa Clara, CA.... let alone Las Vegas....

free WCC tournament trip
You can stay for free food and drinks included - probably the flight and WCC tickets, too----
1) withdraw about $10K from the bank.
2) call the Orleans and tell them what you did.
3) ask them if there is anything they can do for you or if you should try another casino.
4) then ask them if they can get you some nice box seats or a skybox for the WCC games.
5) make sure you don't gamble it all away the first night.

Trust me, biggest regret I have from college was the fact that I didn't go to the WCC tourney my Jr. year with the fellas or to Spokane my senior year (Although mononucleosis and bronchitis were the main culprits for that (read: poor excuses)...
Make it happen, road trips are epic, and hell even if you cram 12 in a room, and don't sleep well, you have the whole drive home to catch up on that...

That trip down to Santa Clara for the tourney was genius. The only thing that would have made it better, a Victory by the Pilots! That is the beauty of this year's tourney, the Pilot's should win a game and possibly the whole thing.

We've now clinched our best WCC record since the 1994-95. Hard to believe that we haven't been above .500 in the WCC since Chavez' first year.
What a fun time to be a Pilots fan!

What a fun game to watch! It was funny to see Big John's reactions to his missed baskets. He was really anxious to get that first field goal. It was also cool when we started chanting "We want Nem!" and then Rev put him in.
Anybody else ready for Saturday's game?

Haha, our own twin towers! They were in together late in the second half. PU had trouble driving the lane then; one time John just swatted one of them down.

USD didn't help us tonight. They lost to St. Mary's 65-61
It was a two point game with 30 seconds left.
Looks like we'll just have t do it ourselves.... Nice to be in the driver's seat.

Re: Pepperdine, Thursday 7pm, Chiles Center
What was up with Pepperdine, tonight? I thought they were on a little hot streak? Their shooting was HORRIBLE, and I don't think it was all our 'D'. The Pilots did do a good job of establishing inside early, and then keeping the pressure on with key 3's.
Mesa, hope you enjoyed the rout! Not much tension for this one. If you jinxed the Waves, you need to attend more games.

Re: Pepperdine, Thursday 7pm, Chiles Center
Well, Pepperdine sure didn't look like they were a very good team. A thing that has always struck me is how different the majority of teams play at home and away. Pep's win streak was against the bottom of the conference away and USD and SCU in their own Gym.
One thing for sure tonight. TJ can tick off another competitor for NCOY.
And it was nice of Rev to put plays in for Kramer when Mesa was in town...
Nice to see everyone get in and we still played hard. Big John even ran the floor better than I expected. he just needs to slow his game down a little and he'll be OK, and he made freshman mistakes. The other habit he needs to lose is putting the ball on the floor when he's in traffic near the hoop.
John - have you noticed that you look down at everyone on the floor?
Not a lot else to say about this game other than I hope to see a lot more of these.
As Sheed used to say - both teams played hard.

I think I got a little tear in my eye when they were both in... seriously, talk about taking up space down low... I hope Hegarty can develop into something special for us!
Kramer had a great game tonight, and yet again, I just cant say enough about TJ. Let's rinse & repeat vs. LMU Saturday!

Re: Pepperdine, Thursday 7pm, Chiles Center
Great play at the beginning of the game. Pepperdine was really suffering with poor shooting all night. Pilot's showed they can still bring it inside. It's been tough lately with the likes of Heihfeltt(sp),Daye, Samhan,Simpson, and Pomare. Was nice to see Kramer get off a good first half, and Robin doing a couple of his "circus" shot's that went in.Luke did well too.
Great to see all the guy's get in. Yeah, I liked that twin tower combo that Rev had in a "live" game setting. Anytime those two can get p/t only improve's them. Then they don't need to look over at the scorer's table after a mistake and worry about coming out.Tonight really helped their confidence and I still think were going to need their size and bulk periodically down this home stretch. Especially if the first three get into some kind of quantre during a game.
TJ did his usual wonderful job. I liked how in 2nd half he was pushing the ball up the court and Pepperdine could barely get back in time in a couple of series.HOW ABOUT THAT SEQUENCE WITH TJ JUST BEFORE HALF TIME!!! I was headed to concessions, but had to stop at 2nd floor rail to see that marvelous set of circumstances. What a difference a yr make's T.J. has blended so well as the point man for the Pilot's
I met a couple of PN reg's this game.Courtesy of Stonehouse was blessed with a rear view angle of the Geezer as he snuck up the back stair's to his seat after half.Aww Shuck's that ellusive Geezer!!!
Thanks for the memory's (unlike last yr's Pepperdine collaspe), I am looking for some more excellent execution for the LMU game.
Fun game, and it was great to see PP11 and Clay out there in front of the student body. Great Job guy's, the students look like their starting to STAND UP and back the Pilot's behind you. You've really come a long way since last year,CONGRATS!!! I bet it really helps and mean's much to the players to have your strong support.
I'm tired so that's enough dribble from me tonight

TJ had a great bunch of moves, Almost as good as me fast breaking to the front of the Widmer table.
They need to put that whole sequence in the highlight reel.

Fun game last night, definitely was good to see all the guys get some time on the court, especially Big John, etc. I don't think he was happy about the missed buckets.
If he works on that rebound and put it back in, he's going to remind me of John Bryant. Except I don't like John Bryant.

What a game! I was talking to Mrs Reveno at halftime, up in the Pilot Club. She told me she hadn't heard me yelling at the refs enough. She related how her husband kind of doesn't want her to yell. But she still does. So I picked up the slack and was yelling at Spitz. He's such a wanker. 17-9 we've got a team, a coach and a growing fan base.
