NCAA @ Rose Garden
Who has tickets?
Any speculation on which teams will be here? It seems to me that if UCLA or UW wins the Pac-10 tourney, they are a lock to be in Portland... and probably highly likely that they both end up here even if they dont... I suppose there is a scenario where Gonzaga ends up here (instead of Boise) if UW or UCLA loses today...
Does anyone know the exact seeding/location rules? Obviously, Portland is closer to Seattle/UW than Boise is... but the distance difference between Portland and Boise to UCLA isnt that great... Same with Spokane/GU to Boise vs. Portland...

I don't have tickets, so for me, it won't make that big of a difference. With UW winning the Pac-10, and IF they win the tourney, it seems that they would be headed to Portland.
Does anyone know how much tickets are?

Lottery Loser
I entered the lottery last spring to get on the list. Weekend tickets were about $175/apiece. Reading comments from users on other WCC sites, those that "won" the lottery seemed to get really lousy seats. (I'm thinking some sponser - cough NIKE whoops UofO cough - hoarding). So I have now justified that it will be better watching from my lazy boy next to the 61 inch HD and am using the cash saved to hit AZ next weekend for some spring training where it is 85 degrees and sunny.
Next year they are hosted in Spokane. They were up there two years ago (that lottery had better odds) and we really had fun although we had no "stakes" with any of the teams.

Re: NCAA @ Rose Garden
John Canzano wrote about this a month or so ago. I doubt UO has much, if anything, to do with this. The NCAA is running this show, and they set aside lots of tickets for the schools and sponsors.
That said, I don't like how they've treated the fans in Portland who put up all that money for a chance to go. Being stuck in the 300 level is not the seat I would have expected.
I went to Seattle's in 2004 and it was a blast. Just being there was awesome, but then Nevada (a 10 seed) goes and upsets #2 Gonzaga in the second round! Seeing all the stunned Zaggettes and local (mostly Husky) fans cheering for the underdogs was priceless. You might call that my one shining moment.

I was in Seattle in 2004 also and it was the same ticket situation. The lottery winners were in the upper bowl (at least I was) and the schools that were playing were in the lower bowl. I think that having the schools involved in the 100s is really what you want. So I was expecting to get the 300 level tickets I won this year.

If I ever plan on going to an NCAA tournament game, I will just wait until the brackets are announced and go through the school's box office. Sounds like it is better seating.

Re: NCAA @ Rose Garden
Yeah, UCLA, Gonzaga, UW, and ASU all have a chance of playing in Portland. It would actually be pretty cool for ASU to come to Portland since Nate McMillan's son plays for them. I'm sure he'd attend a game or two to see his son play. There is still a small chance though that some teams will end up in Boise instead of Portland. In fact, maybe Gonzaga would go to Boise. That seems logical...

Boise is too good for Gonzaga.

I believe the Blazers will be on a road trip.

You are correct, sir. NBA teams tell the league about these kinds of events before the season schedule is made.

If you want to throw up a little bit in your mouth, here's a story to read from the Portland Tribune.

This article was in the local paper this morning:
http://www.thenewstribune.com/sports/story/671080.html
HAHAHA! Portland curse!!! Nothing tops listening to Venoy Overton's family whine as he single handedly throws his team off rhythm and lets his horrible attitude infect his entire team.... God I hate that guy...

Re: NCAA @ Rose Garden
Quincy Pontexter at least showed some class in the article by admitting the Fuskie's got beat fair and square in Portland Game.
But, Lorenzo Lomar using the parable of the intertube is pretty much a back- handed insult to Portland's program if you think about it.
Isiah Thomas, well what can you say about his mouth, he's a freshman, and the best thing about freshman is they become Sophmore's. They learn how to not open mouth and insert foot their sophmore year, lol.

Re: NCAA @ Rose Garden
I hope Isiah realizes something about their "home court advantage" this weekend: Back in 2004 most of the locals at the NCAA games in Seattle were Husky fans who had no love for the Zags and were openly cheering for Nevada to upset them, which of course happened. Now I ask you: What Pac-10 school has tons of alumni (and hoops fans) living in Portland? That's right, BOTH OF THEM.
Prediction: The only people supporting the Huskies Thursday will be the fans they bring with them.

Hahaha, reader comment on the Trib article:
"Re: COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Zags like matchup, site
Zags Nation...descends on Portland.
Does the University of Portland have a nation?
If it did, it would probably be Liechtenstein."
Stupid Zag fans.
