Canzano's list
His 25 most influential in sports in Oregon is out again.
Phil Knight's influence continues to swoosh
I'm OK with the first two. My major complaint is that half of the rest of the list is either Nike lackeys or Vulcan lackeys. None of those folks do anything but what the Big two want. (you could probably include U of O in that category)
Why not just make it a top 2 or top 10 list?

Re: Canzano's list
The Communications Director of the Blazers over someone like Bill Bowerman?? Really??
Canzano's really reaching with this article (Well that and it doesn't help that he only really has one major sports franchise to work with...)

Re: Canzano's list
Oh, Canzano wrote a column? Hmm, interesting, let me see...
[gives Canzano a web hit]
Okay, John. I really wasn't suprised with the kind of people you put on the list, this being Blazers/UO/OSU country. I know you've only come around on this soccer thing in the last few months, so come on over to Merlo this fall and get schooled on what Clive did. He was a Timber too, you know.
I'm just saying, if you're putting Pre on the list because he continues to have an impact even when he's gone, what about a man who's a legend to two fan bases?
(Note to PilotNation: I was saving my next post for something more than just a one-liner. Can you guess why? )

Re: Canzano's list
The Pre choice is among the hardest to understand.
Ok, I get that he was a legend and all that and that Oregon has a great track record.
The part I don't get is what he did in the last year to go from unranked to #14 and pass Alberto Salazar.
Was there seance I missed?

Re: Canzano's list
I see that Sam Adams made the others receiving votes list...is that because of the work he does with Little League?

Canzano probably had watched "Prefontaine" or "Without Limits" right before this publishing deadline...

Re: Canzano's list
Canzano never writes anything to change my opinion of him. Neither cyclists (like Lance Armstrong) nor soccer players are first tier athletes in his opinion...according to past editorials. If you aren't a basketball player, football player, or a baseball player, you don't exist.
At least Colin Cowherd has become a soccer fan and actually hosted a viewing party for the US vs. Mexico game. Canzano never will. I nominate him for doushbag of the month.
