1st goal for Portland comes from Kendal with the assist from Michelle, and the 2nd goal from Michelle with the assist from Kendal!

Nice statement with 4 players scoring, lots of time for bench players, a shutout on the road. I like the move of Schmidt to attacking mid and Enyeart to forward. We had lots of positive talk on Pilot Nation about that scenario in preseason. Let's hope Foxhoven's absence is not due to illness or injury.

Good spot to insert this: North Carolina 0, Auburn 0. (UNC outshot Auburn 40-4.)
Aha!!!! A little wakeup call for the TarHeels this weekend too, eh?! Very interesting!! Its gonna be a wild season...anything can happen!
Good win today for the Pilots! Nice response to the little bump on the road at TAMU. Garrett's fine tuning seemed to have the team realigned again.
GO PILOTS!!!

Word on BigSoccer was that UNC's Nikki Washington, who probably was their best offensive threat, might have torn her ACL in Friday's game against LSU. I notice she did not play today. Shame if she did and a real blow to UNC, notwithstanding its vaunted depth.

I don't have the advantage of seeing the team in person much (usually twice a year), but I was one who thought Sophie would be out of place in the midfield. I saw her play with the Canadians against the US two years ago in DC, as holding mid. Now, she would have been only a freshman then, but even so, I thought she was a non-factor, at least at that level - not enough speed or quickness to be effective. I thought her best position was as a target-player attacker. However, she is so much faster, and quicker, than last year, and she is a very, VERY good distributor, that I wouldn't be surprised to see her stay at attacking mid. I also have always thought that attacker was Michelle's best position. She gives the team breakaway speed at that position. However, it was fun watching her make those attacking runs from central mid when I was out there last weekend.
Isn't it great having a coach who you know will get it right after trying different combinations? However it ends up, it will be best combination for the team

They also have Ashlyn Harris (GK) and Tobin Heath (AM, lately) going to the national team camp Sept. 21 to Oct. 2, then they will probably miss a game at the end of the season for an international.
