UP @ LMU, Saturday 7pm
So, how do we think the Lions will respond to (1) the absolute pasting we put on them up here last month and (2) the big emotional win on Thursday vs. GU?
LMU is a much different team than the last time we played them, with a full, healthy roster... they are young, so I dont know how they will react to the win... I only saw a bit of the replay of the game, but it didnt look like a crazy "one player going off to carry the team to victory" games, it was solid shooting and a somewhat lazy GU effort that won the game for LMU.
Solid defense by the Pilots can win this game for us... and if TJ & Jared can continue to get looks, we get another solid road win.

Looks like viewing is available from All-Access off the LMU web site. LINK. Any other options?

Re: UP @ LMU, Saturday 7pm
I watched some of the LMU-GU game on their site last night... the video is very grainy, and the announcer has a very nasally voice, but it's better than nothing. And the price is right.
Hit mute and listen to Kolker & Brough...

I thought it wasn't too bad. it was better than watching the game on TV and listening to the Gonzaga announcers whine about how they were getting robbed.

I doubt it was anywhere near as good as Scott Hamilton's performance commentating figure skating.

Sorry, no figure skating for me. But the commentary on curling is riveting!

I'd sure love to see the latter; that would remendously help our seeding situation. As to the former, well, I cheer every time they lose, but hoping that they drop two out of three to the remaining WCC teams they have to face is a lot to ask for.

Re: UP @ LMU, Saturday 7pm
We can dream though right? Maybe Lady Pamela can distract the Zags shooters for us....
ANYWAY, tonight should be a VERY interesting game... Will LMU come out with the same fire as they did against GU? Will they try and clamp down on our perimeter threats (and if so will that allow Robin and Luke to have bigger offensive contributions?)? Will our defensive effort and ball control (we have been keeping the TOs VERY low which is fantastic) continue? Will Jasonn and Nem continue their evolution from garbage time players to viable bench contributors continue? Am I asking too many questions? Will Geez's quest for Pliny the Younger cause him to forget about the game? Is anyone reading this?
I need the game to start already...

Re: UP @ LMU, Saturday 7pm
UP7587,
I just had to start the topic of conversation.....Most everyone will need a few "shots" in the arm to keep us from going into late season depression like last year with the late season "blah's" like we faced.
The pleasant feature of this Veteran team is I don't anticipate a "collaspe" like last. I feel good about them,I love our defensive Intensity that Rev has them playing at. As mentioned before the growth of Jason to give us some muscle inside when we need the enforcer/space eater as fourth big man off the bench. In addition, Nems growth in confidence so Rev can work him in for this year and next (with Ethan graduating).
Its cold here, its 60 degree, but a win will make me happy ,

Re: UP @ LMU, Saturday 7pm
Reminder: The game audio is broadcast on 95.5 fm tonight. The audio is streaming from the station's site here, and from the UP site here.
Video and Gametracker are streaming from the LMU site here. Links are on the right side of that page.
Dont forget about the PilotNation chatbox here.

Re: UP @ LMU, Saturday 7pm
Pilots showed a lot of grit by coming back late in this game in spite of cold shooting and 21 turnovers to be in position to win, up by 2 with 12 seconds to go... and then we cant inbound the ball.
Credit to LMU's physical play, which neutralized our bigs and kept us out of our game for long stretches.
A tough loss for sure, and sets up a "must win" game next weekend vs. USF to hold onto 3rd place. But look for LMU to give SMC a game, too... seeding is coming down to the wire!
Granted we couldnt finish around the rim, but I dont think LMU is the team I want to play in Vegas...

Re: UP @ LMU, Saturday 7pm
Which meant I could listen on my iPod while at the Hawks game. It was interesting following two games at once. Kind of cool the Pilots get bumped to the big FM sports station when the Hawks are on.DJ Sherman wrote:Use the 99.5 audio; the UP audio link leads to the Winterhawks
You might say it's easy for me to say this now, but I knew this road trip would not be straightforward, and neither will the home games next weekend. Like they have been all year win or lose, I know they'll put this behind them and move on to the next one.
LMU is one to watch next year. I don't think there are any seniors, a couple of big nonconference wins, tough defense...sound familiar to Pilot fans? The Lions will cause some problems for any team they play.

We (lmu) were very lucky to get that win. It was a very entertaining game and Pilots hit 3 from all over to keep the game close. We needed to win at home after getting slaughtered in Ptown. Good luck rest of the way.

With a veteran team, NONE of these things should be an issue.

Re: UP @ LMU, Saturday 7pm
PU Regulars,Lurkers and Irregulars,(Take your pick),
I was watching the game with "Grandpa and Grandma" and needless to say we were hearbroken at the final score. But, like grandma said (who swore that LMU had a 30 pt lead at half),lol, the "little boys" really really fought back. The were especially proud of the kid from Glendale Community College who scored 24pt, and so was I. TJ put the team on his back in the second half (ala Nik) and carried it as far as he could.
Needless to say Mesa was disappointed when You know who missed those free throws. MikeMac and I were probably on the verge of "corinarys" when the Pilot's couldn't get the ball in toward the very end of regulation.
But, LMT as metioned before can be proud of their improvement and have much to look foward to next year with wins over Notre Dame, Bulldogs, and a Veteran Pilot team tis year.
I havent done any research on the Gaels remaining schedule but if they play St. Marys it will be interesting to watch on Direct TV with Mattywhizz. (No, he wont be at my house PN Regulars.) Although I could probably get him a bottle of tequilla with a worm in it from that little country to the south.
Statistics don't lie and the Pilots stunk the Gym up with first half shooting,TO's for the game, and becoming a foul machine to put the Lion's on the line far too much.
Well , I am headed to a tall building or a public golf course ..Opps, I mean to drown my sorrows and cant wait to cheer, cheer the Pilots on to a 20 win season with the remaining 2 WCC reg. season games. Oh, lest I forget that always tough Evergreen State in which Cody will get some good playing time on "Senior Night".
From the Pit of my stomach, (As a fan it's kinda still there)

Re: UP @ LMU, Saturday 7pm
Glad the boys fought back, but way, way too many turnovers -especially of
the unforced nature - and Robin was stone cold. That's a lot to overcome. LMU is really, really impressive to me. I'm surprised at their record - they are way, better than it. They are very athletic, quick, and tough defensively. They should be very tough in years to come. It looks like they have a coach who can recruit and develop players - a dangerous combination.
