Pilots Baseball: 8-1 WCC, 23-9 Overall
An impressive season so far for the Pilots!
WCC Standings, so far:
Upcoming schedule:
4/20 @ UW
4/23-25 @ Pepp
4/30 @ Seattle U
5/1 BYU @ Seattle U, Seattle U (Double header)
5/4 @ Oregon
5/7-5/9 USD (Etzel Field)
5/11 Wazzu (Etzel Field)
5/14-5/16 @ USF
5/18 Oregon (Etzel Field)
5/26 @ Wazzu
5/28-5/30 @ GU
Looking at the schedule and standings, that home series vs. USD will be HUGE... and obviously some heavy lifting remaining with both the USF & Pepp series on the road. USD is 6-0 with sweeps of SCU & LMU at home (sounds familiar)...

Re: Pilots Baseball: 8-1 WCC, 23-9 Overall
Pepperdine was picked to finish first in the conference this year - they're always good, and they always give us fits. I'm really impressed with how the Pilots have handled themselves so far this year, but if they can take two games in Malibu, that all but locks up at least a second place.
Pretty cool that we can start talking about challenging the upper half of the WCC in baseball.

Pilots are receiving votes in the USA Today/ESPN Baseball Poll! That would be a ranking of about 37... not too shabby (and about 10 spots ahead of USD!) The Pilots were pretty darn good back in the old Pac-10 North days, but when was the last time we were noted at all?!
It's great to see some recognition for the success so far this year!

From Yahoo/Rivals' "Winners and Losers":

Portland (23-9) – With an 8-1 record in the WCC after the LMU series, perhaps it’s time we start taking the Pilots seriously.
