TV stations KATU-2 and KGW-8 were out on campus this week to get some interviews with the baseball team in anticipation of this weekend’s games.

Look for a story about the team during the 5 o’clock hour tonight on KATU-2 and complete game coverage and extra interviews tonight on KGW-8!

Kyle Blair for USD had a no-hitter with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning before Kris Kauppila hit a double. What a performance by both starting pitchers:

Blair (USD) 9.0 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 walks, 15 strikeouts
Kraus (UP) 8.1 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, 10 strikeouts

Great game tonight. Kyle is projected to be a very high pick in this year's draft and he really brought his A game.

It would be great to get multiple teams in the Tourney this year. I hope you guys win out..... after Sunday of course

How was the crowd?

Boxscore says 517, which is the biggest crowd of the year by about 40 or so.

Consider this: I do know from experience 517 actual rear ends in seats is a very good night at some midweek Portland Beavers games in April or May (their reported numbers are always inflated by season ticket holders who are too smart to show up, etc.).

That was the biggest crowd I've seen at a non-OSU baseball game on the Bluff. Good turnout for a fantastic pitchers duel. Blair faced only two more than the minimum. Their first run scored from third after having advanced from first on a beautifully executed hit and run. A failed hit and run is what led to our first caught stealing - though it's hard to execute one as a batter when the ball's thrown at your head, to be sure.
