the women's winner of the fr.Pruzinski award is Danielle.

Foxhoven, Dennis win UP student-athlete awards
The Portland Tribune, Aug 3, 2010

Forward Danielle Foxhoven and baseball pitcher Chris Dennis are the University of Portland's student-athletes of the year.

Soccer star Danielle Foxhoven and pitching standout Chris Dennis are the University of Portland's 2009-10 Fr. Chester Prusynski student-athletes of the year.

The annual award is based on academic and athletic prowess.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Foxhoven, from LIttleton, Colo., led the nation with 2.82 points per game and ranked second in goals (1.1) as a sophomore last year. She was a unanimous All-American
choice after netting 25 goals, with 12 assists, for 62 points, which tied for fourth on the UP single-season all-time list.
Foxhoven is the 10th consecutive soccer player to win the women's award, while Dennis is the first baseball player to take the honor since Ben Ortman in 1993.
it's a little misleading. Danielle is behind only Millbrett and Sinclair in single season scoring.
Milbrett had 30 in '90 and '92, and 25 in '91.
Sinclair had 39 in 2005 and 26 in '02.
Shannon's best year was 23 (twice).
A great year. lets look forward t another one.
It's good to see both Foxhoven and Pru get some recognition. Foxhoven is going to have amazing numbers when it's all said and done, and a national championship would be icing on the cake.
16 in year 1; 25 in year 2. No Michelle E this year so ...
How many goals will the Fox in the Box score this year?
25 would be great.
She is clearly moving to the next perfect square in each subsequent season, so:
  • 2008:16
  • 2009:25
  • 2010:36
  • 2011:49
for a total of 126.
Not the only possibility.
It could be a fibonacci sequence starting with 9 as the seed number (her jersey number)
that could be
numb: 9
2008: 16
2009: 25
2010: 41
2011: 66
For a total of 148.
or we may have to settle for an arithmetic progression increasing the goal total by her jersey number each year
16
25
34
43
that only gives a total of 118
which matches the NCAA record - in fewer games
For some beautiful numbers, check out Christine Sinclair's when she was a Pilot.......
Year GP Goals Assists Points Shots Shots on Goal
2001 24 23 8 54 119 67
2002* 21 26 3 55 104 54
2004 24 21 11 55 100 53
2005* 25 39 10 88 139 76
* NCAA DI National Championship
I didn't realize just how productive and consistant she really was.
Amazing.
I love this forum. So many places online the postings are inane (at best) or racist/cynical/poisonous rants.
Here we have speculation on the mathematics of number sequence as applied to our leading goalscorer.
I would be happy with any of the possibilities mentioned above for Dani. As I said earlier I think that maintaining at 25 would be a great outcome too.
As to comparisons to Christine Sinclair, my friend-who-I-sit-next-to and I agreed upon Christine's graduation that we would never make comparisons to her because she was so wonderful skilled talented athletic and unselfish that it was pointless. Early the following season we were both guilty of saying "Sinclair would have put that chance away or Sinc would have made something of that" but we caught ourselves and stopped.
She was rated among the top 25 players in the world while at UP. And rightly so. We may see many great college players - and already have - but may never see another in her class again.
My wife and I said it to each other watching Arjen Robben in the World Cup. Very Happy
And, not only would Christine have put away Robben's attempts, but it couldn't have happened FOR a more deserving and TO a less deserving player. Hmmm. A little confusing - I love Christine's style and dislike Robben's (he has no class, whereas Christine is loaded with it).
