Re: Pilots vs CAL Northridge
Audio is working, but matchtracker is stuck and I think the announcers forget that you're supposed to announce the score often. All I can tell is that the Pilots are still ahead. It might be 2-1?
Winters to take a PK (handball) - saved.

Re: Pilots vs CAL Northridge
It seems to be 2-1.
I wish I knew how Northridge scored, but the commentary seems to be on the level of, "the one player passes to her--and boom goes the dynamite."

What, it's not enough to know that the game is "wide open" and "they're going for it"??
The finally announced it: 2-1 at... with 4 minutes left in the game

Will Winters be taking many penalty kicks after that miss?

Re: Pilots vs CAL Northridge
2-1 final... just about had a heart attack in the last minute. Northridge had a header off the crossbar with about a minute left. With ten seconds left Dees tipped a shot over the bar, but time ran out before the corner kick.

Final score 2-1 to Pilots. Capelle gets both goals. Keelin has PK saved. Erin Dees reportedly made important saves in final moments.

Re: Pilots vs CAL Northridge
Well, I appreciated the over-the-internet radio. Not the greatest, but still I liked it.
Re: Pilots vs CAL Northridge
I actually thought the radio was pretty good... it cut in and out a few times, but on the whole it was about as good as it gets - a pro announcer (albeit one who didn't know soccer well... I loved it when he asked the color guy what you called a penalty kick) and the men's coach as color commentator.
We are spoiled fans... not too many places even bother to do audio for women's soccer, so to get something of good quality - even if it's not great in terms of keeping up with game action - is usually more than we can ask for.

I tuned into the radio for the second half and was highly amused when, with 15 minutes left:
Play-By-Play Announcer - "... and the Pilots are rated 5th in the nation."
Color Commentator - "Wow! Really? I didn't know that."

Anyway, back to the game... it's hard to know for sure, but I think that Foxhoven was back on the field when the PK was called, so I was surprised Winters took it instead of Dani.
Didn't Dani take our PK's last year?

Re: Pilots vs CAL Northridge
Pilots and Tottenham both win 2-1 on the road. And both teams have two goals scored by the same player. And both games end with drama. Uncanny parallel.
Very nice. But guessing that Micaela's second goal will not be as good as Gareth Bale's.

Agreed that Pilots are a little spoiled. I think I was just tense when they kept implying how close the game was without announcing the score for 15 or so minutes.

Made me smile too... he was enthusiastic for sure but wasn't quite up to speed.
I also loved how they kept talking about their really high listenership... hate to break it to you guys, but that was all Portland fans. Something tells me the numbers for their next game are going to be a lot lower.

Oh I agree... I'm just saying we were lucky to have audio.
And it's funny... I've done a few play-by-play games for the Pilots, and it's so easy to forget to give the time remaining when you are watching the action. I think I went a whole half once without doing it. Which of course is why I never get paid to do it!

Hmm... well, there were a lot of subs and with Gametracker crapping out it was hard to tell who was on the field.
Not that I doubt Keelin's ability (if we are to believe Mr. Homer Color Guy, Northridge's keeper is very good at blocking PKs), but Dani just knows how to get the ball in the back of the net, you know?

Re: Pilots vs CAL Northridge
BTW, the CSUN announcers were enjoyable to listen to, even if they were homers and even if they lacked knowledge of the players. They did convey the excitement of the match and occassionally gave credit where it was due.

I love Keelin: but would not understand why Dani would not take the PK if she was on the field.
