Helping the Community
I got this e-mail from the Timbers supporters trust in my inbox today. DTR, Nut--I'm posting it here where people will read it.
107ist members receive discounts at the Far Post and other Portland area businesses, as well as other benefits. http://www.timbersarmy.org/107ist/ will tell you more.

If you love soccer, here is a team just a few miles from Merlo who wants to play. You can help them get on the field. We all know how high school sports can benefit students tremendously. Thanks for helping in whatever way you can.

Dear members,
When members of the Timbers Army first got together to discuss what we wanted 107ist to be, supporting local youth soccer was as important to us as supporting the Timbers themselves.
107ist has recently learned that Jefferson High School's boy's and girl's soccer teams are both in dire straits. Jefferson's Athletic Director unfortunately does not have the resources to properly equip the Demos' varsity soccer teams, nor provide them with the training gear they need to practice.
For that reason, 107ist has pledged to provide each member of both varsity teams with a new soccer kit, complete with uniform, socks and shorts.
But this is only scratching the surface; they will still need additional equipment such as training balls, warm-up t-shirts and practice cones. If you would like to help us with this effort please see below for a few different ways you can support this initiative.
Jefferson High School has been in turmoil lately as City leaders debate whether to close the school, but these kids shouldn't have to pay the price. We are excited about making a real difference in the future of soccer for Portland's students and we would not be able to do this without your member support of the 107ist organization.
How you Can Help
At Thursday's game against Puerto Rico on 9/2 at PGE Park at 7pm, we will take donations at the TA merchandise van on the corner of SW 20th and SW Morrison as well as at our TA table in the concourse behind 107. We are also using our tifo information and donation page on our website to support this effort. You can go to our tifo page, click on the orange Donate button, and specify your Jefferson High donation in the PayPal instructions.
If you wish to provide some materials to donate or have ideas about how you or someone in the community might be able to assist with this effort, please contact us at board[at]107ist[dot]org. We encourage any purchases to be made at the Far Post (825 SW 14th) as 107ist members receive a 10% discount and they have been a fantastic partner with us.
