UP beats USF
final score 3-1
to tell you the truth, there were large parts of that game that weren't very pretty. but UP did one thing USF didn't do except for one beautiful strike and that's finish. that was a top corner far post strike Austin had no chance on.
the first was a nice dispossession of the keeper on a clearance and a shot by Michael Neilson in the first half followed by two great finishes by Jared VanShaik on feeds from Iwasaki in the second half. the two van Shaik scores were jus a couple minutes apart.
I thought Evans had his best game today. The rest of the team sprayed a lot of passes to nobody.
Ugly as it was, the men are now 7-2-4 and 4-1-1 in conference. Gonzaga at home next Saturday.

Re: UP beats USF
It was fun to watch a game that wasn't quite as tight as usual, scorewise.
The women's game was a bit stressful.

I happened to be standing at the rail at that end of the field just about level with the goal box, and their keeper completely misplayed it. He almost whiffed on his clearance attempt, but just glanced the ball which fell pretty much at the feet of Nielson. Nielson did have to fend off the defender and run onto the ball, but it was all started due to poor handling on the keeper's part. From my perspective anyway.

Both the Don's and Gaels had suspect goalkeeping that lead to Pilots taking advantage and scoring. We should be grateful for the long line of reliable goalkeepers the Pilots have had (currently Austin and next year Justin B).
