1410

i was trying to tune in the game this evening, but I was getting more of the Vancouver BC 1410, and could not really hear the game. I can now stream the game, but it is not good when we cannot hear the game because it is being over powered by a station out of the country.

And that other station was broadcasting some weird stuff.

But agreed, 1410 stinks. The reception is terrible... I was driving all over NE Portland and there was only one spot where I could actually hear 1410 without large amounts of static and/or the other station talking over... Not a good situation at all for other games.

Thank goodness I am home now for streaming audio...

Anyone else having issues with the stream here at the end of the game?

Yea, it stopped at times.

Yeah in the last minute it got very choppy, stop and start.

It broke up a bit at the end. probably a feed issue.

Not as bad as the 1410 issue. that reception was horrible. I live 5 miles from the UP campus and couldn't listen to it.

I used to have the same problem with 1550 at my house. After about ten minutes, it would blend with 1520 (Hispanic music) to create this weird effect of Ron Callan's play-by-play backed with a mariachi band.

Can we please get a legit radio station? Just once?

I did some research online, and KBNP 1410 broadcasts a whopping 5,000 watts... compare that to 860 KPAM, 750 KXL, 1080 KFXX and 1190 KEX, all of which are 50,000 watts.

Even KKAD out of Vancouver which carried games last year (didnt they?) is 50,000 watts....

I am no radio expert, but I think all this means that 1410 is a really, really weak signal.

I too am sick and tired of the hay wire radio tations that we seem to get, almostyear in year out. Live Stream is ok for a game or two but not the entire season, It has its problems also. It cut off for the last three or four minutes for me amd never came back. If it takes bitching to get it fixed there should be plenty of people to bitch.

Yeah the Live Stream is marginal in AZ too. The Audio in AZ was excellant.But, you couldnt tell the difference between Sikma,Knutson,Smuelders sometimes.
I was really hard when Knutson fractured his nose in the Concordia (sp) game and changed from number 45 to 22 because of the blood on his Jersey.

But, Live Streams better than nothing, I just hope the game is not close and mine does not work. I might throw my shoe through the TV screen.

Does anyone know what motivated the switch from 1550 to 1410? I thought 1550 was just fine; I could get adequate reception almost anywhere. The 1410 signal, however, is nonexistant in SW Portland. I could not hear one word of the game. We definitely need to look at getting hooked up with a better station.

The Live Stream quit working for me. Anyone know why?

This does not reallyhelp the KBNP 1410 picture, but it seems that they were the ONLY station in the Portland area that would pick up our broadcast. All of the the other stations KPAM, KXL KFXX, etc were already committed. The station that had us last year took on the Winter Hawks. SO if the Pilots would change all their games to day time we'd be fine. We still have the computer generated broadcast but that seems to be it.
