Florida Atlantic Thread...
So far this is a much closer game and a better test for us. I like how Rev is putting trust in the young guys like Tim Douglas from the beginning of the game. It's funny every once and a while my ears deceive me, and I hear "young Timmy Duncan" instead of "young Timmy Douglas." Haha...
The game is currently tied at 26-26 each, I believe. It will be interesting to see how the team does in a closer game. This is the game where we'll learn the most about the team. How will they do in a closer WCC game where the free throw shooting in the clutch (or the bonus period) could decide the victor?
It looks like the leading scorers so far are Knutson with 8 followed by Sikma with 7 and Waterford with 5. Sikma is the leading rebounder so far with 7. Hopefully, Sikma can bring home another double double...

38-29 now...Pilots are up with 1:39 left in the first half. Sikma is the man: already with a double double: 11 pts and 12 rebounds. If he gets enough minutes this could be a career night for him. I like it. Knutson is also getting the job done as a scorer.
-----------------------------------------------------
Funny how the commentators of GameCentral seem to forget like they are on the air during half time... Either that or forget to turn off their mikes.
42-34 Pilots at the half. What a run to start the second half! 53-37 lead now... Sikma, Knutson, and Stohl are leading the charge. One more rebound and Sikma will have a career high; he's already tied it with 14...
Sikma just got his career rebounding high at 15, and for now he's checked out of the game. 62-48 now...
----------------------------
89-75 victory. Sikma had a career high 19 boards and added 15 pts, Stohl finished with 24 points, and the team free throw shooting was absolutely amazing at 24-26. It can't heal the wounds of the loss in women's soccer, but, I'm extremely optimistic going into the game vs. Kentucky. Stohl, Tanner Riley, and Sikma make the all tournament team. I didn't think I'd feel this optimistic going into the Kentucky game. These guys resemble the team that beat UCLA last year with deeper guard play...

Re: Florida Atlantic Thread...
This was a great performance tonight. Luke was huge but it was a balanced effort with everyone contributing.
They don't have anything to lose against Kentucky. You never know what might happen.
The day started badly but it still is a great time to be a Pilot fan.

Re: Florida Atlantic Thread...
Agreed on the great performance tonight... Sikma dominated in the paint, Waterford was solid, Kramer played well, and the freshman contributed solid minutes.
Congrats to Luke Sikma, selected as AIA Classic Tourney MVP. Well earned. Stohl and Tanner Riley also were selected to the All-Tourney team. What an accomplishment for Tanner--his 1st 3 games in D-I hoops, and he gets the very much deserved All-Tourney honors.
It will be interesting to see how Friday goes, and will be a much better judge of where we are as a team. And yes, we have nothing to lose. The schedule gets much more difficult now, so 3 wins in the pocket is a great start!

Re: Florida Atlantic Thread...
Sikma was an absolute stud tonight! As OTF mentioned he had 15 pts and 19 rebs ...AND...AND 4 BLKS & 5 ASSISTS. He was everywhere tonight. WAY TO GO BIG FELLA!
Kramer had a great all-round game and it was nice to see him posing a threat to the defense by looking for his shot on the offensive end. Stohl was great! Waterford played smart, heads up ball without any turnovers and took advantage when the defense let up on him.
Great weekend for the Pilots! The Frosh looked really good. I agree with you OTF I am definitely feeling good about this team after this weekend's stellar play. Go Pilots!

Re: Florida Atlantic Thread...
This was supposed to be a year in which we would struggle to put the team back together after the losses, but I'm not so sure. These guys can play!
The guys whe were question marks are all going to make great contributions, and they all seem to be buying into rev's defense. Great to see.
FAU was a pretty good team. Great win.

Re: Florida Atlantic Thread...
Someone needs to give Tanner Riley a kick in the pants.
Pilot freshmen don't put in that kind of a performance their first three games.
I knew the freshmen would make this season interesting.
