USD is not dead
WOW! San Diego pulled off what has to be one of the stunners of the year.
They beat Utah 67-64 in Hawai'i today. Pomeroy gave then a 8% chance of accomplishing that.
Congrats to them. I'll bet they needed a lift about now. This is their first D1 win of the year.
Also, we should be on our toes this week.... Both for Nevada and for Utah. We don't want to be on the other end of one of those.

Re: USD is not dead
Utah did not have a good trip to Hawaii. In the first round of the Diamond Head Classic they lost to Butler. Then after a day off, they lost to home team Hawaii. So their game with USD was on Christmas Day to play for 7th & 8th places. That's a tough one to get motivated for. Their next game is with us, then they start league a week later. Their coach will be pushing them to play well against the Pilots.

Interesting tournament in Hawaii. Butler came in with 4 losses, but ended up beating Wash St for the title. Baylor was highly ranked, and had suffered their first loss of the season to Gonzaga just before, and lost twice more. Mississippi St had a player get suspended for the first game, play the second game, then get into a brawl with a teammate while watching another game in the stands.
