UW Has a New Coach
The Huskies hired Jaime Clark from Creighton to be their new head coach.
He was there one year and lead Creighton to a 12-6 record and an automatic tournament berth after he did the same at Harvard.
I guess I understand why they hired him. I don't understand why he made the move.
Creighton is a dream job. Perennial contenders, great new 6,000 seat stadium, ( looks like it has canopies and drop down replay screens great attendance.
all that to go to an undistinguished program and play on a field that slopes with temporary stands and no one watches.
Either he has a big ego or they promised a lot.

Re: UW Has a New Coach
Maybe they are skimming some shekels off the top from the big Husky Stadium renovation to upgrade the soccer facilities...
But 3 programs in 3 years for a coach? Who is he, Sam Allardyce? (Total burn.)
And that stadium looks gorgeous! If they allow picnics on those berms, I'm totally sold!

Re: UW Has a New Coach
They do allow picnickers on the berms and on the tiered grass terraces on one side of the field, I'm told
There was mention of a new playing surface at UW, but they didn't even say they would level the field.
I found out a little more.
His dad is Bobby Clark, coach at ND (formerly Stanford)
Jaime played for his dad at Stanford.
His girlfriend apparently lives in Portland.
Oh, and the field at Creighton is Turf.

Re: UW Has a New Coach
Hmm, I now see something on the Husky about a 3,000 seat covered stadium in the works as part of an $18 million renovation along with the baseball field. ( that was upgraded just a few years ago). They claim it will be for the 2011 season. Creighton's stadium cost $13 million in 2003-2004
Maybe they are trying to upgrade

Re: UW Has a New Coach
With the participation level in youth soccer and whatnot in the Seattle area it would make sense that UW has great growth potential. If that investment is true, i think the Huskies have the potential to build something, thats for sure...

I think there's always been that potential with the youth programs, and with people like Kasey Keller and Michelle French getting behind the youth programs in commercials that definitely helps. It will be interesting to see if the MLS youth academies have any effect on soccer in the northwest at UW or UP. There's plenty of soccer out there, but, that hasn't always translated to building a program in the past. They have to keep more of that talent in the state and win to overcome the UCLA connection in the area (Sigi Schmidt / Chris Henderson) of the Sounders. But, the size of the youth programs in relationship to the population of the state is huge...just like it is in Oregon.

Here's another good one I heard today. Andy Carroll's Liverpool shirt will only say "ROLL." The "CAR" got stolen already.PurplePrideTrumpet wrote:Fat Sam is the Larry Brown of football without the wins. (another burn.)DaTruRochin wrote:

HA! He is going to go nuts now that he's in a town with more than one club and no Kevin Nolan to babysit.
