So it's a few days old but kind of an expected development. Needless to say our friends over at God is a Gael are nervously wondering what way Mr. Bennett decides to go. As much as I have questioned Randy in the past, I do recognize it as a gaping hole in the WCC coaching landscape if he leaves. But really the promise of facilities and money (Not to mention greater tourney visibility) that he will never see at SMC could be tough to turn down...

Well, he's done a great job of establishing a steady program at SMC. You have to wonder if the recruiting pipeline to Australia continues if he leaves. Regardless of whether he stays or goes, it's time for the program at SMC to start looking to do tougher non-conference scheduling. Otherwise, they will continue to be a program that is on the outside looking in (at the NCAA tourney) like they were this year if they do not win the WCC tourney. For that matter, we need to do the same at UP to keep up with SMC, Gonzaga, and BYU.
