Reveno Rumor Mill 2011
Welp the season is over, now we get to start hearing the rumors again...
Mizzou?? Believe it or not, Rev's name is ALL over their message boards as a rumored candidate for their open coaching gig after getting rebuffed by Matt Painter... Here's a sample: http://opendispatch.com/boards/missouri-tigers.php?message=8498450
Utah?? The Bennett teeter tottering continues, but Rev's name is getting tossed about too on boards all over the state of Utah:
http://www.utefans.net/message.php?id=1168892
or
http://www.cougarboard.com/board/message.html?id=6534992
Of course it is all speculation, so who really knows?? Of course this is just a product of our recent improvements and we'll have to get used to the rumors. Just some things to ponder/worry about with the hoops season over. Huh, I don't seem to remember doing this with Lizard Shoes Holton at all....

Re: Reveno Rumor Mill 2011
I saw this a couple weeks ago at Jon Wilner's College Hotline, focusing on the Utah opening:
LINK
I wouldn’t be surprised if Long Beach State’s Dan Monson, St. Mary’s Randy Bennett and Portland’s Eric Reveno (another 20-win year at Portland: unreal) may have some interest in Utah (or vice versa). Whether or not they admit that publicly is another matter. It’s not the best job in the Pac-12, but it’s hardly the worst.

Re: Reveno Rumor Mill 2011
Dan monsoon isn't very marketable after his recruiting issue at Minnesota,
Randy probably doesn't see going to a school where football is the big sport and the rescources to compete in the PAC12 aren't there as much of a step up,
and Rev signed up again at the end of last season, probably will cost a bit to buy out for a couple more years, and hasn't won quite enough yet for schools to pay enough to do that. He probably has a Stanford clause, anyway.

It's all just speculation until someone's AD officially says that Reveno is on the short list for the job or Rev himself says he's going to interview for an opening...

So much for rumors:

I think Rev comes more from the Brad Stevens mold anyway; the grass won't be greener on the other side...

CoachReveno Eric Reveno
Boarding 10 hr flight to meet prospect and family. Will tell the story of how the last 3 years with 60 wins, won't be as good as the next 3.

Hmmm, based on the time of the Tweet, it would have to be the Delta flight from PDX to Amsterdam...
Delta Flight #178 departs PDX at 1:25pm, and is 10 hrs, 5 minutes long.
(Wow, did I really just look that up? Exciting Friday night...)

Doesn't narrow things down much. It's the only nonstop to Europe sinceflights to Frankfort ended.

Coach keeping us informed of his travels:
via Twitter
Great meeting with prospects parents. Very good discussion on how college is about opening doors on and off the court. And proper "fit".

Re: Reveno Rumor Mill 2011
Was this a recruiting trip, or cookies and punch while we got into character and family life?
I can't imagine Randy Bennett traveling 20000 miles for a social call.
Rev hasyet to say a word about the "prospect", was he even there?
Hard to say if this was a 2011 or a 2012 prospect.
Rev travels a lot but other than Robin he has yet to bring a player from across an ocean that I can think of. Ito played high school in Maryland and the Chesapeak Bay doen't count.

Re: Reveno Rumor Mill 2011
Well based off the info we have from tweets alluding to Rev postponing his wedding anniversary celebration, taking long flights and mentioning the discussion with recruits and families, I'm gonna go ahead and say yep, the rose smells like a rose so....
And as Robin being the only "overseas" player, there is a big reason for that. Up until this year there were big issues with European players and playing with professionals (since they don't have the HS/college athletics programs that we see in the states). Even when they paid their own ways (As Robin did.) They would lose years of eligibility because they played with players getting full pay. Without getting in depth at all, those rules have been loosened somewhat in the last year by the NCAA (Too late for Robin sadly) so that a lot more players are now eligible to come in and play right away for 4 years and thus he can explore whole new markets across the globe. I think you might start seeing a lot more players come across the pond over the next few years due to the rule adjustments.
Also with the great WCC ESPN package our Pilot games are getting air play all across the Pacific Rim, Europe and everywhere else that carries the network. It is a huge boon having players familiar with the school AND being able to say, yep your friends and family will be able to catch your games on the television too.

Re: Reveno Rumor Mill 2011
What U say regarding Robin's case is certainly true and was a severe penalty for both schooland player, but then U have the case of Harris coming to Gonzaga two years ago and nother Germn the past yearso there have been European player at least for the Zags. Of course there are different horses for different courses also.
Its just after three trips to Austrailia and zilch, it get to be little frustrating don't U think ?

Hahaha a little frustration is no reason to just quit trying entirely. (HAVING to go to Australia or Europe multiple times even if nothing comes of it sounds like my kind of time wasting...)

Re: Reveno Rumor Mill 2011
It sounds like he did not stay in Amsterdam.
Let me just say I need to lose some weight before I fly Air Europa again. Problem is I am not sure that will happen by tomorrow.

The locations that show up when you type" air Europa flights Amsterdam" are pretty interesting.
