It looks as though the UP Office of Development is hiring someone to be the Director of the Pilot Club, the Athletics affinity program. Anyone interested?

Associate Director of Annual Giving

Responsibilities:


Summary of Position:

This position is responsible for implementation of year-round strategies to solicit University constituents with the goal of increasing and upgrading annual contributions to University athletics. The major emphasis is on athletic-oriented donors and building interest and gift memberships in the University’s athletics affinity organization, Pilot Club.

Essential responsibilities:

•Work closely with Marketing and Communications, University Events and Athletics Dept. to create a comprehensive program to promote, present and raise annual support for athletics through Pilot Club.
•Build an annual membership appeal for supporters of UP athletics as Pilot Club members including brochure, website, direct mail, email, and personal solicitations.
•Set annual gift membership levels and benefits.
•Create promotional print materials and website information.
•Conduct personal cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors to promote and upgrade gift memberships.
•Track Pilot Club members by interests, number of years of membership, etc.
•Devise membership promotional campaigns and incentives to increase number of Pilot Club members.
•Manage the presentation of Pilot Club hospitality at all home games of major sports.
•Train and schedule student workers for all Pilot Club hospitality events.
•Work closely with Major Gift Development Officer for Athletics and with Athletics’ Director of Sponsorship Sales on recognition and promotional opportunities.
•Plan and implement thoughtful recognition of Pilot Club members.
•Be present at all Pilot Club events including evening and weekend sports activities and selected road trips.
•In times of Pilot Club inactivity, cultivate and solicit selected donors and maintain small portfolio.
•As part of Annual Giving staff, and during times of Pilot Club inactivity, participate in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of annual giving prospects as assigned including reunion giving, affinity group giving, and other specialized areas.
•Maintain portfolio of donors to athletics and other areas of the University.
Detailed Job Duties

Work in conjunction with the annual giving team, major gift officers and the prospect researcher on strategies to meet personal and department fundraising goals, both overall and specifically as related to athletics fundraising, with emphasis on increasing number of Pilot Club members and moving current members to a higher level.

Working with other departments, raise awareness of Pilot Club and desirability of Pilot Club membership through development of promotions and other Pilot Club activities.

Maintain positive working relationships with Marketing and Communications, Athletics Department, University Events and Major Gifts Officer for Athletics.

Work closely with department staff and employees of the University including deans, faculty and members of the Congregation Holy Cross.

Adhere to department process or travel requests and personal production/gift activity reports.

Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.

Accept other duties as assigned by the Director of Annual Giving.

Accountable to the Director of Annual Giving for monthly gift results.



Requirements:

Undergraduate degree required. P reference given to candidates with demonstrated experience in annual giving and promotion with emphasis on building financial support and increasing donor base for athletics programs in a college or university setting.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge and appreciation for the significance of university athletics at the NCAA Division 1 level combined with demonstrated, successful experience in the development process including annual giving, personal solicitation and athletics-specific fundraising.

Skilled at working independently and with others to plan athletics promotions and recognition of donors to athletics to increase awareness of the significance of athletics in the life of the institution and the value placed on athletic activities by alumni, parents, friends and others.

Able to make personal solicitations, effectively raise money, and manage key volunteers and student workers. Excellent, thoughtful communication skills, both oral and written. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Good time management skills a must. Ability to work smoothly and simultaneously in the worlds of development and athletics. Establish rapport with donors, athletics’ staff and coaches, alumni, faculty, students and staff.

Able to operate a computer.
Able to operate and have access to a vehicle.
Able to write and speak clearly.
Able to move independently around campus to interface with faculty, staff, students.

It is a little concerning that the job's Knowledge, Skills & Abilities does not include "Excellent beer tasting & selection capabilities" or "Experience in hiring wait staff to provide complimentary in-seat beverage service for P-Club members"...
