Re: World Cup trivia time
They were put in the goal by the 'wrong' team.
All scored by a woman.
The goalkeeper did not stop them before they went in the net.

Re: World Cup trivia time
1. The defending player is credited with the goal
2. The ball would not have gone in the goal except for the defender touching it.
3. The goal is scored for the opposition.

Re: World Cup trivia time
here's two of the three:
1) all (both) goals were USA own goals.
2) both were logged in against Bri Scurry
3) ????
it's my favorite.

Geez, you're very bad:
They both were scored by Santa Clara grads: Leslie Osborne and Brandi Chastain!

4. The offending defender took her shirt off afterwards in celebration.
Yes, that is the only thing I do and will ever remember from any women's world cup. Well, that and maybe Christine's free kick against Germany.

Confused by the sports bra. We now know where your head is.
The own goal by Chastain was Germany in The semifinal (where she redeemed herself with a goal to tie)
The shirt thing was China in the final.
And there are game winners involving both Shannon and Millie.

Well, in his defense, at least this time it didn't somehow have something to do with Ana Del Bosque this time....

I think that's over. she hasn't aged well. here's what I came up with when I googled "Anna del Bosque soccer"
- Spoiler:

Second question
Since it is Game day, in honor of Aleppiek's 30th birthday, I'll make it easy.
Of all the World Cups ever played, only once have all the games ever been in one city.
What city has the distinction of hosting all the games in one World Cup?
Extra credit for naming the year and winner.

Hahhaa even though about 90% of the team's primary language was most definitely not English...

Question #3
Let's change it up a little. This one is on the Laws of the Game.
Scenario 1:
A player with the ball or ability to play the ball is held outside the box and the hold or effects of the hold continue into the box. What is the proper call?
Scenario 2:
A player in the box is held, but not directly involved in play on the ball. What is the proper call here?
Extra credit if you can cite where either of these calls has been correctly called.

Re: World Cup trivia time
I'm game (so he shot her...):
Scenario 1: Direct free kick from where the foul occured. In this case outside the box...unless one tries to invoke the NBA Continuation Rule.
Scenario 2: Penalty kick from the penalty mark.
No thoughts on where either has been called correctly (including this response). I am somewhat disheartened to know that disallowing Megan's goal was the correct call...by the book. It would have been so uplifting for her. But I think she'll be right back as soon as they put her on the pitch.
