Beer Question/Rant
First the question: Is it socially acceptable to create your own variety pack when buying a six pack?
Now the rant: Why is it that I always buy the six pack that has been altered? Took the kayak out for a relaxing paddle on the river after work last night and grabbed a couple Widmer Summer Ales from six pack in the fridge. Once on the river I crack one open only to find it's not a summer ale, but a Rotator IPA. I know for many of you that would be a big score, but I was looking forward to a clean and crisp summer ale, not an IPA. My later investigation confirmed that someone must have replaced half the summer ales with IPAs. Come on people, if you want both a summer ale and an IPA, is it really too much trouble to buy two six packs?

Re: Beer Question/Rant
Is it really too much trouble to see the tops are different colors?
At some stores it's perfectly ok. Others charge the individual price, and at the local Fred Meyers, the clerk often will point out the different beers and ask you if that's what you really wanted.
The guy at the local 7/11 doesn't care. Everything is by individual price anyway.
Coulda been worse. The beers could have been Rubys.

I should have looked more closely, but then again I shouldn't have toPurplegeezer wrote: Is it really too much trouble to see the tops are different colors?
The lady running the self checkout at Safeway didn't check for mePurplegeezer wrote: at the local Fred Meyers, the clerk often will point out the different beers and ask you if that's what you really wanted.

Sucks. At my local store, they've got a few doors with many singles so you can mix and match your own six pack. The selection is limited to say 50 or so beers, but they rotate what's in there. No problems with funky six packs at that store.

You know, if you just went for the cans of Schmidt, this would never be a problem. Plus you would feel extra outdoorsy.....

Citra Blonde is a great summer beer! I recently bought the last 12 I could find while I was in north Idaho on vacation!

That's why I buy 30 packs of Busch camo-colored cans during hunting season.DaTruRochin wrote:You know, if you just went for the cans of Schmidt, this would never be a problem. Plus you would feel extra outdoorsy.....

I almost did the same yesterday, but it still feels like summer and Safeway still had the Citra. I did make sure to buy a 12 pack this time though.
