Re: Preseason polls
Well... this makes the Florida State, Santa Clara, Stanford, USC, Oregon State, and Washington matches more interesting... Wait! I already knew that. As for that second poll... Behind UW?! Really?

Re: Preseason polls
Actually, the second poll looks like last year's end of season poll to me, As it mirrors the tourney results.
I find it hard to believe that teams with 5 or more losses would be ranked ahead of the pilots for this year.
UW with 9 losses is just not credible.

Re: Preseason polls
OK, here's topDrawers real rankings for the year, at least his top 25.
In this one we are ranke 7, same as NSCAA.
UCLA tops the list this time. Pretty interesting considering the season they had last year and the new coach. I think TDS is banking on the recruiting class pulling them through.
Other WCC schools are BYU at 17 and SCU at 25.
He also has San Diego making the tournament field.

purplegeezer - pretty safe to say UCLA's incoming class needs to kill it for them to be even close to #1.

Re: Preseason polls
The NSCCA has UCLA picked at 16 for the preseason. I'm predicting they will finish higher than that.

Re: Preseason polls
Based on my "refined" RPI as applied over the last four years, which takes into account game locations and regional biases, TDS appears to be overrating the ACC (7 of the top 14 teams) in comparison to the Pac 12 (5 of the top 23 teams). The ACC may be slightly stronger than the Pac 12, but not to the degree that TDS thinks.
I'm going to have some fun this year, if things turn out right, because I'm going to run my refined RPI in parallel with the NCAA's RPI and report on the differences.

Re: Preseason polls
Looks like historical reputation was a major factor in placements. USC as the third highest PAC 12 team Top Drawer's poll???? I'll bet a phliney that won't be the case at the end of the season.
