Pilot fans -

Erin Dees
That time of year has finally arrived; yes its soccer season on The Bluff. I can almost smell the kettle corn and hear the “Go Pilots” chant. I will be continuing the tradition of women’s soccer insider blog and I will do my best to fill the shoes which Emma has left me with. Let me formally introduce myself. My name is Erin Dees—everyone I know calls me “Dees”—and I am a sophomore goalkeeper from Downers Grove, Illinois. I enjoy working on jigsaw puzzles, watching movies, and playing soccer in the rain.
The team is looking great; we have five new faces in Kaila Cameli, Emily Sippel, Lorielle McCluskie, Rebekah Kurle, and Malloy Leahy and all of them are fitting in nicely with the rest of the team. When we are not playing soccer you can usually find us watching movies, hanging around bonfires, or playing the occasional game of Catch Phrase.

The end of the 2010 season left us with plenty of motivation to drive us through long hours in the weight room, running, and on the practice field. Needless to say, we are all excited to get back into season.

Merlo Field is looking better than ever. The stadium and railings have been spruced up by a new coat of paint. New world cup style goals have added a whole new dimension to the field. And most importantly, the grass is flawless. All that is missing are cheering fans and kilt-wearing students taunting visiting teams.

So come out and cheer us on as we take on the fifth ranked Seminoles of Florida State University this Sunday at five o’clock.
