My 2 Cents

Now if that sponsor logo is on the grass all season, that is a different story...
It doesn't have to replace anything on the kit.

I think this is just down to a football culture thing. I don't want anything on the pitch besides the lines. But, Americans like to make changes to the game that nobody else would dream of. Oh well...

Hey, US Bank is putting money into the Pilots' soccer program. What's not to like? Would you rather no sponsors care about soccer?

Advertising on shirts is not permitted in the NCAA, which is actually the only American idea I can think of.
it seems every soccer team in the world outside of the NCAA does that.

Advertising on the pitch? ... Done all the time in Brasil and Argentina. They don't write on the pitch anymore in the premier leagues only because it can now be done digitally.

That little logo is probably what paid for the tv broadcast, which otherwise the school would have to pony up the production fee to the NSCAA for. Most of the other schools usually have to pay for it themselves. I forget how much the fee is, but it's not cheap.

The field logo is a one-time thing because of the network broadcast. Not sure if it will be gone Sunday - just because of timing - but it's not a permanent feature is my understanding.

the athletic department has to pay to have the game broadcast on FSC. and its not a small amount. the money has to come from somewhere. a few sponsors on the field, or no game on FSC?

You have yet to convince me. It's all right. I know you can't live without money in football, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. Smile

At least the TV broadcast didn't halt play halfway through each half, as sometimes happens on televised games so some ads can be squeezed in. Those interruptions really mess up the flow of a game.
