2011 WCC XC Championships - Live Stream!
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has announced that it will broadcast the 2011 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships live from the Crystal Springs Course in Belmont, Calif. on October 29. The livestream will be available at the Cross Country Championships Central page on WCCsports.com and YouTube.com.
The broadcast will be produced by WebStream Productions, one of the nation’s leaders in live-streaming and content creation. Viewers will see the start and finish, as well as the key checkpoints on the course via a four-camera shoot with graphics and commentators.
This year’s race will feature all nine WCC schools, including BYU, who will be racing for the first time at a West Coast Conference championship. The Portland men’s team has won 32 consecutive WCC titles. The competition will also look to unseat two-time defending champion San Francisco on the women’s side.
The men’s race on Saturday will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed immediately by the women’s race at 9:45 a.m. Visit WCCsports.com for more information on Saturday’s race, including video previews later in the week.

So, the streak ends at 32. We actually didn't run badly, it was just that BYU had more depth. I am a bit worried that we over-extended ourselves at this meet and will not do well at regionals and nationals. The good news is that Fauble and Perry did a fairly good job as number 5 and 6 men. If everyone stays healthy and runs to their potential, we could sneak into 5th or 6th place at nationals. If we are worn out, who knows? And BYU could very well finish second or third at nationals.

I'm concerned about that too, although I understand why we had to give it our all at WCCs. Plus, it seems like we've been underperforming at nationals recently.ekrauss wrote:So, the streak ends at 32. We actually didn't run badly, it was just that BYU had more depth. Well, if we have been underperforming at Nats, and not been running our best at WCC. Maybe this is just what we needed to overperform at Nationals! Also, aren't Regionals two weeks away, Does one hard race really mess you up for that long? I never ran anything competitively over 400m, all that took was about a 12 minute recovery. I have heard a few people say running the top guys at WCC was a bad idea for Nats.

I think it can. Recovery is as important as any other aspect of training, IMHO. In other years we held out our top guys, actually usually our entire varsity, from conference to keep them fresh.
The conference-regionals-nationals gauntlet is all part of the game! Stay healthy and rested, Pilots!

According the coach, just hours after the WCC meet, we have a chance for a top 10 at the Nats (maybe as high as 7th or 8th) and BYU has a chance for a top 5 (3rd is realistic). We're as good as we've every been or better.............now let's get rested and stay injury free.
