PN Wisdom Needed
I'll be in Russia for the next three weeks (and hence missing the start of the basketall season!!). Problem is, I know not a darn thing about Russian vodka!
I don't really like vodka, and don't think I've even tasted it since college. But does Russia make a good vodka that I should try? Am I colored in my impression of vodka based off of HRD? Should I be buying a couple of russian bottles to bring back?
What say you, comrades?

I'm no expert on vodka but I've heard they have good beer along the Russian river.

Re: PN Wisdom Needed
Russian?
Stilly Elite ( not to be confused with the regular Stoly.)
Also Kaufman. Both have price tags to match.
But almost any of the Polish vodkas or the finish Reyka can match those.
But I'm not a vodka fan. To me it's just another distilled spirit named after water.

Are you saying we should all just drink distilled water?

the Russian and Polish name for water is voda or woda. Vodka means "little water" , so what you are drinking is distilled little water.
Aquavit means "water of life". Wiskey comes from the Celtic "uisge ", also meaning water. The Romans called it Aqua vitae "lively water". we have all heard the stuff called "fire Water"
a bunch of booze is named after what it isn't. Schnaps, for example, is low German for "to swallow", which i find near impossible with that beverage.
Maybe their booster clubs were told they couldnt serve booze and this was their way to fool their conference people.
