Re: NCAA Tourney: Pilots @ Oregon St, Friday 11/11/11, 7pm
Well, the good thing is OSU has Pilot Nation to educate them... And I'm sure all of the Pilot attendees will give them latitude if everything is not on the same scale as the Merlo field experience.
A few words on OSU's stadium -- OSU's stands are closer to a high school stadium in terms of amenities. The stadium holds about 1,500, The bleachers are bleachers, no seat backs. The restroom is kind of small, so you may not want to drink too many fluids prior to the game. The great things...You are very close to the game like the student side of Merlo... The stadium staff is just as friendly as Merlo's. American Dream Pizza... A great Gelata place, Francesco's on 2nd street.
Have a great time if you go, it should be a good game.

I was at the FSU game. There was room for a few hundred more.
There are lower bleachers out on the wings that picture doesnt show.

Take the Hwy 20 road for the coast then turn right on 15th St. then left pm Western. It will be on the left just before the softball field and the Hilton Garden. Just a block from Reser Stadium. Have to run the clock at a high school football game or I'd be there. Cheer loud.

Is it Friday yet? I can't wait any longer for more Pilot soccer this season!
My dad and I were at the OSU vs UO game last Friday night. The Beavers first goal was a very pretty free kick piece and the goal they gave up was absolutely unlucky. Their GK (Colleen Boyd) came out to the top of the 18 to retrieve a through pass, when she bent down to scoop it up, she slipped and fell, and UO was there to tap it in.
It's gonna be another great game between our programs and look forward to continuing this season further.

The Pilots live to play another day -- just great news. Whatever their record this season ... NO YONE who saw the end of the Gonzaga game -- with former players hugging current players, graduating seniors hugging their moms, little kids holding up signs for their fave players -- would call this a lost season. The love of the game, the team, the school and the fans was overflowing. I hope the Pilots can take it to the Beavers once again.

From the OSU wsoc page:
Pretty cool that they are giving UP students the same price as OSU students?

I'm not saying that you are old, but depending on what they consider a senior you might qualify for that rate.

They won't ask. I'm not shaving, I borrowed the neighbor's walker and you will be carrying an oxygen bottle for me.
That gets you in as a caregiver.

Sounds like the Beavers are trying to counter the expected crowd of Pilot faithful. Hope they get a big turnout--of mostly Pilots.

But clearly, on paper OSU is the favored team here, right?
“We’re hoping we are,’’ said Buckland. “Statistics-wise, we’ve done way better than UP this year. It was a falling out year for them.’’

First post, log time lurker. As co-leader of the Villa Drum Squad I would like to announce to any current UP students that the Villa Drum Squad has organized a student road trip. For only $10 students will be able to get a seat of one of the 3 charter buses that we have reserved, dinner before the game down in Corvallis, and ticket to the game. After the game we will get back on the buses and head back to UP.
If any students are interested please come and sign up, in person, at the Villa Maria Hall front desk.

We are not a Horde. That's PSU... Silly Oregonian. Also, I would like to say that I disagree with the only comment on the article:
This is a renaissance of women's soccer at OSU! Let's pack the house Beaver Nation! This is for in state premier program bragging rights. That program is now OSU!!

OSU does have one football team on the upswing. I'm actually pleasantly surprised someone is looking beyond beating Oregon since that's typically OSU fan's number one goal in every sport, every season.

I cannot give a high enough recommendation to Chris Henderson at All White Kit. He loves Division I women's soccer as much as anyone, myself included. Just scroll down the page that the Pilots v Beavers write-up is on and you'll see what I mean. I don't know how he does it, I think he doesn't sleep.
In addition to his AWK work, Chris is the person who inputs virtually all of the schedules and game result data into the nc-soccer website, which produces the in-time RPI ratings that RPI nuts look at. Often, he gets game results entered within seconds after the game is completed. I get the data for my RPI work from there. Chris, another guy who roots for North Carolina and is the creator of the nc-soccer RPI webpages (he is a computer genius, at least to me), and I have been working together on this for a couple of years now (and the Geez helps sometimes), yet we never have met each other. It's been really fun, and I can't resist giving Chris this plug.
PS -- Stay tuned for some really interesting information about the NCAA and its Division I women's soccer RPI computations.
