Pilots at Santa Clara – Thursday @ 7pm
Pilots at Santa Clara – Thursday @ 7pm
OK, if we are going “win out” the rest of the year, this is where it starts.
The game is televised on ESPNU and will be on the web on ESPN3 at 7pm PST. You can also get it through SCU’s website, but I believe they charge big $$$ for it.
There is no official update on Kevin Foster's situation as of this morning.
(Also on Thursday, GU is at BYU on ESPN2 @ 8pm PST. The game should be very good, let’s see if the fans can be very good, for a change).

Re: Pilots at Santa Clara – Thursday @ 7pm
Obviously this game is important for Vegas seeding purposes... SCU is going to be desperate for a win, but I dont know how they will respond as they continue to play without Foster (I assume he won't play).
The game up here was not as close as the score indicated, and we are playing much better ball overall, and with Foster out, this is a great opportunity for us to get that elusive road win.
It will be interesting to see how BYU responds in the GU game, after getting pasted at home by SMC & LMU. A Cougar win really dents GU's title hopes.

Agreed on "needing" it... I think a win on the road really helps us build for the final month of conference play...

Re: Pilots at Santa Clara – Thursday @ 7pm
This just posted on the Santa Clara Athletic website:
It is expected the Broncos will again be without the services of leading scorer Kevin Foster. As a result of an incident Jan. 21, Foster will be withheld from competition pending the outcome of the University's student judicial process (he also missed the LMU, USF and Pepperdine games).

Obviously this is a sad situation but, as far as the game is concerned:DoubleDipper wrote:This just posted on the Santa Clara Athletic website:It is expected the Broncos will again be without the services of leading scorer Kevin Foster. Cant argue taking 17ppg out of the lineup. That should fare well for the Pilots but it might only "even out" their road trip woes. The young lads need to get this win and with the improved play as of late I see a victory in their near future.

Just for fun, I like to see how others rate the teams in the WCC and what odds they are giving:
Pomeroy’s predicted score and % probability/Las Vegas odds: (neither gives odds on fan behavior at BYU)
SCU over UP 77-72 67%/SCU by 5
BYU over GU 75-72 61%/BYU by 3
LMU over PU 64-54 86%/LMU by 9.5
SMC over USD 83-59 97%/SMC by 19

Re: Pilots at Santa Clara – Thursday @ 7pm
Other games of note tonight:
Gonzaga @ BYU, 8pm on ESPN2. How will BYU (and its fans) react? A GU win would give BYU a 4th loss (3rd at home), and the potential to slip out of 3rd place. A BYU win places GU's conference title streak in serious jeopardy. I have to think BYU will be VERY hungry for this win...
Pepp @ LMU, 7pm. The Pacific Coast Highway rivalry continues; we need our friends in Westchester to win this game, to keep Pepp a notch below us. TV is Prime Ticket, or I believe you can watch via the LMU web site.
If we are able to pull off the win tonight, and SMC wins at home vs. USD, we would pull even with the Toreros at 3-7, tied for 6th place.
GO PILOTS!

So according to Pomeroy, I should bet SMC! Everthing else is too close.
I'm looking forward to a Pilot upset tonight

With the tie-breaker currently in San Diego's favor after their 82-63 blowout win over the Pilots in Portland on January 14.PilotNut wrote:If we are able to pull off the win tonight, and SMC wins at home vs. USD, we would pull even with the Toreros at 3-7, tied for 6th place.

Pilots win! 84-78!
Good execution down the stretch... shooting 74% in the 2nd half helps...
Don't change that plane ticket just yet...!

Uh. 84?
Woohoo PilotNut fixed it so it doesn't say 83.
Good to get a road win and get one step closer to securing a day 1 bye.

Re: Pilots at Santa Clara – Thursday @ 7pm
LMU does us a favor and knocks off Pepperdine, 67-57, dropping the Waves record to 2-9.
USD had the lead for much of the game, but faded late, as SMC won 84-73 in Moraga. USD is now 3-7, tied with the Pilots for 6th place.
BYU up big on GU, 50-36, with 14:44 to go in Provo.

Not only did we score a dunk on the inbounds to Kevin Bailey, he was fouled and we got the old fashioned 3 point play!
