Amanda got the WCC player of the month award.

11/5/2012 1:06:00 PM
SAN BRUNO, Calif. --- Portland Pilots junior forward Amanda Frisbie had a stellar October and she was rewarded by nabbing the West Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Month award. Frisbie led the Pilots with five goals, two assists and 12 points during October to help Portland go 4-2-1 and end the month on a four-game winning streak.

The native of McKinney, Texas, also had two game-winners and scored two goals during a 3-0 win at Saint Mary’s on Oct. 21. Her first goal against the Gaels came on a perfectly placed strike from 30 yards out that dropped just inside the top left corner of the frame.

Frisbie’s other game-winner came at home during a 3-1 win over No. 18 Pepperdine on Oct. 26. She also had an assist against the Waves to help the Pilots rally from a 1-nil half-time deficit.

Frisbie ended the month as the conference leader in goals, goals per game, points and points per game. 55 percent of her shots during the month were on-target.

well deserved. She is miles above the next scorer. congrats.

Agreed, well deserved. Even beyond her scoring, her work rate is tremendous. She means much more to the team than her goals scored.

This year she really stepped up and showed her brilliance. I recall watching videos of her H.S. goal-scoring when she was a recruit and thinking, yeah, the Pilots can use some of that!

For those who haven't noticed, Amanda started today for Boston in their game against Seattle, in the NWSL. The game currently is 0-0.

Just wanted to share that Frisbie was still active with the Boston Breakers who just recently folded. We will see if she gets selected in the dispersal draft, signs elsewhere, or continues playing professionally.

Amanda Frisbie stays in the East Coast after being selected by Sky Blue FC with the 19th pick in the dispersal draft.

The Thorns picked Margaret Purce (4); Angela Salem (15); and Ifeoma Onumonu (22)

Purce, a 22 year-old forward, is a Harvard graduate; Salem is a 29 year-old midfielder from Frances Marion University; and the 5-10 Onumonu is a 23 year-old forward and a Cal graduate.

Glad to hear Amanda was drafted, sorry it wasn't by Portland.

I didn't realize the Swamp Fox had a university named in his honor. Amazing what you can learn on this forum.

Oh, I can't even begin to count the ways Frances Marion is remembered in South Carolina and in many other states.

I used to live in Myrtle Beach, just 60 miles from Frances Marion University, and just another 35 miles away in Sumter, the SC Air National Guard has their Swamp Fox logo on just about anything that moves....

All the aircraft have the Swamp Fox logo on the fuselage, this aircraft just happens to be the 50th anniversary edition with the logo on the tail and fuselage, and all the ANG personnel have the Swamp Fox patch somewhere on their uniforms.

You literally can't drive more than 10 miles in eastern South Carolina without coming across something commemorating Marion.  Yes, he was definitely the prototype of today's Rangers or Special Forces, but his treatment of Native Americans and British Soldiers would probably be considered atrocities today....not to mention his slave holding and trading.

Heck, he's even remembered in Oregon by something we all love in our jams and jellies and deserts....the marionberry, named after Marion County, Oregon, which was named after the Swamp Fox, Frances Marion.

(Not to be confused with the second and fourth ever mayor of Washington, DC, Marion Barry.... tongue ) :

Here I thought the berry was named for Marion Barry, cocaine snorting, hooker employing, ex mayor of our National capital.

Amanda is still playing pro ball in Spain. She has been starting regularly for Madrid CFF in the first division at central defender and sometimes fullback.

She apparently hasn’t forgotten how to wind one up from time to time. This link shows a 40 yard Puskas contender into the upper corner that left the keeper twitching.
