David Carr
Any word on the injury? I know Rev said they would know more today, just haven't seen anything. Any insiders have information?

Re: David Carr
I wouldn't expect any official news for a while, though possibly something will be in the game notes prior to the LMU game.
Due to HIPPA and FERPA rules, there is a limit to how much medical information can be released about students, even student-athletes.

C'mon Stoney. There is nothing in Ferpa that prevents the staff from stating whether Carr can play the next game or rest of the season. It's not an educational record.
And while they can't release his medical records under Hipaa, I think it's a bit of a stretch to call "he can't walk" a medical record.
We have been told in the past when Rapinoes and Barker were lost to us. They can find a way to let us know the time frame for his recovery.

As sadly expected, it was determined today that David Carr will be out the remainder of the season with his knee injury.

And a difficult season just got more difficult. Best wishes to David Carr.

Re: David Carr
This explains the barrage of e-mails from UP trying to get me to sign up for grad school! They must be trying to get me to enroll so I can suite up at shooting guard the rest of the season! Why didn't they just say so?!
In all seriousness, I wish David a speedy recovery.

Re: David Carr
Hopefully he can take his time and recover fully before next season. Knees are always scary but good news is players have come back from knee injurys and recovered fully.
I guess this means more playing time for Oskars and Bryce for sure. And maybe this will be a little bit of a spark for Tanner?? We can always hope.

Re: David Carr
Oh no! I really thought David was getting a little bit better with each game and was starting to figure things out a bit. I liked the way he was pushing the tempo and getting the ball up the court. His outside presence for sure will be missed.
Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery!

Hmm, do you suppose #25 burns his redshirt and travels with the squad?

He has to step on the court during a game to do that.

Idealy, David will check-in at the scorers table before stepping on the court.....but that begs the question; will he?

Re: David Carr
The question is asked...
A terrible season ending injury for sure, but an exciting chance for someone who has been working his tail off and been the consummate teammate from his first day on campus last summer.
I guess that's life in D-1; first Jake has to burn his redshirt because of Dorian's "decisions," and now it seems likely that David Ahern will burn his. I much prefer the latter scenario; a warrior steps onto the field of battle to replace a wounded warrior……Dave, you playing now?
Yessir!!

Re: David Carr
Between Cason's departure, Bailey's nose job, and Carr's knee, this has been a nightmare season.
What is KB's prognosis for return? I don't recall seeing that.

I think he will be back this weekend, unless he has had a setback in the last couple days.
DD?

When I last spoke with KB he was still planning to play against LMU...."I'll have family and friends there."PurpleGeezer wrote:up7587 wrote:Between Cason's departure, Bailey's nose job, and Carr's knee, this has been a nightmare season.

Personally, I don't expect him to be as "game ready" as he would like to be, but you know he'll give 100% of whatever he's got.

Re: David Carr
Seems like a pretty poor decision to have used up Ehlers' redshirt. He's added nothing to the team during games this season, and hasn't played at all for the last several contests. What was the point in putting him in at all?DoubleDipper wrote:I guess that's life in D-1; first Jake has to burn his redshirt because of Dorian's "decisions," and now it seems likely that David Ahern will burn his.

Re: David Carr
I was meaning to ask that myself, but realized the WHY didn't really matter at this point as he's got parts of 8 games or so already in the books.NoPoNeighbor wrote:Seems like a pretty poor decision to have used up Ehlers' redshirt. Jake was very quick to pick up the nuances of the various offensive and defensive schemes....he's very bright on the court, but I have yet to see him break loose and play with any confidence, which I find odd because he was such a leader for at least two years in high school.

Re: David Carr
Does Ahern need to burn his redshirt? Can't Pressley and the rest just get more minutes? It seems like there are enough people to absorb the minutes without getting fatigued.

He probably won't get a ton of minutes unless there's an injury, and face it, expectation can't be very high, but I believe it's the correct move.

Re: David Carr
What are we going to see tomorrow night? Any ideas? Obviously, Rodgers will start, but beyond that? Someone had mentioned that Bryce could fill that roll, too. I'm inclined to agree. Based on the few minutes that Ahern played in the preseason, I think he still needs to adjust to the increased athleticism and skill he's seeing at this level.
Looks like this game will be streamed online:

I know our guys will be giving it their all, and LMU is still on cloud nine after their comeback against Santa Clara. We can definitely win this game! I'm hoping for a big game from Nicholas, Van Der Mars and Barker; and I would love to see Reinfelds continue to make a positive impact.
Go Pilots!!!
PS.
How about those Ducks!

Great road win tonight at LMU. Felt great playing in my first college basketball game! #Pilots

Re: David Carr
There was a comment on another thread (sorry, couldn't find it quickly) about David and redshirting. He played in 17 games this year, so I am sure there is no way he gets any time back. He'll be a junior next year, whenever he's physically ready to get back on the court.
